This morning, I was honored to have joined the Intergenerational High-Level Dialogue on Climate Change and Human Mobility at the @UNmigration Pavilion today.

Climate change is not just an environmental challenge; it is an existential threat impacting every aspect of life in Somalia, across the continent, and around the world. We’re already witnessing its severe consequences, from climate-induced displacement and urbanization to water scarcity, food insecurity, and conflict.

For young people, these impacts are particularly harsh, disrupting education, job opportunities, and basic services, and making daily life more challenging.

As the Minister of Environment and Climate Change, I called upon global leaders, policymakers, and organizations to empower young people and ensure their voices lead the conversation on climate and mobility. @MoECC_Somalia is committed to making youth a driving force in our climate action agenda, not as victims, but as active participants in building a low-emission, resilient future.
