#LegalTechDialogues: I heard that the Court of Appeal recently launched paperless filing of cases, and everyone seemed genuinely excited about this innovation. But out of curiosity, I went and asked them a simple question: when you say paperless, do you really mean there will be no paper involved at all?
Up to now, I have not received an answer. So, what does that mean? Was their assurance genuine, or was it simply a statement of aspiration rather than reality?"

#LegalTechDialogues: "The law is a unique discipline. It interfaces with virtually every other field of human endeavor. Every development in medicine, the social sciences, engineering, or technology inevitably affects the law — and the law, in turn, must respond. And if the law must respond, then the institutions responsible for training lawyers must also adapt.
Prof. @bazzira on Re-engineering Legal Education for the Digital Age.
#LegalTechDialogues: "During our time at the university, we did not have the privilege of using tools such as PowerPoint. It is encouraging to see that you now have access to, and can immerse yourselves in, contemporary technologies — including emerging artificial intelligence tools like ChatGPT, Grok, and many others. However, it is important to remember that these tools will not accompany you to court. They can aid your preparation, but not your performance. Therefore, you must learn to strike a balance between your mental engagement and your reliance on technology. Develop your own analytical and reasoning abilities — because at the end of the day, it is you, not the technology, who will stand before the court."
Dr Brian Kalenge - Dean, School of Law @KingCeasorUni
#LegalTechDialogues: "Today, when we examine the role of technology in higher education, there are key dimensions in which it becomes relevant. The first is technology as a tool of teaching. This includes the physical infrastructure — the classroom environment and whether it is technologically equipped.
The second is technology as a medium of instruction. We saw this vividly during the COVID-19 lockdowns, when we were all forced to quickly adapt to online and hybrid teaching. Platforms such as Zoom and Google Meet became our new classrooms. What initially appeared as a crisis turned into a powerful lesson in adaptability and innovation for legal education."
Dr. Shadat Ssemakula Mohamed - Deputy Dean Law School, @utamu_uni,
On Re-Engineering Legal Education for the Digital Age.
#LegalTechDialogues: "Our goal is to train a competent lawyer — one who is able to use artificial intelligence and digital tools to handle a client’s case efficiently, without compromising professional ethics.
This is our call to the regulators — particularly the Law Development Centre (LDC) and the Law Council. We acknowledge that they have made commendable progress, including the development of a professional code of conduct. What we now need are clear guidelines on how to use technology responsibly within legal practice."
Dr. Kisubi Esther - Dean Law School, @KampalaInterna1@KiulawSociety

#LegalTechDialogues: "In the next ten years, there will be players in this economy who transact only in crypto. They will receive payment in crypto, they will pay suppliers in crypto, and they will never touch fiat currency again. Transformation doesn't wait for us, we run after it to catch up with it."

#LegalTechDialogues: In Uganda, we seem to have hit a rock on matters concerning cryptocurrency. Yes, @BOU_Official made a pronouncement and also, there is a court ruling. But policy uncertainty is killing innovation. If I had five minutes with the President of the Republic of Uganda and he asked me what to do about cryptocurrency I would urge for first passing of a Virtual Assets Law, clear without regulation of the companies. With regulation only imposed on the asset class is where the world is going."
