One of the stupidest things a nation has ever done

As some of you might know, and some might not, the Netherlands sits on one of the largest natural gas fields in the world in the northern part of the country. It provided the country with a stable secure energy supply for decades since its discovery in the 1950s, while we also exported a lot to pay for an extensive social security system

The problem with this field was, that extracting the gas caused some minor earthquakes, nothing too serious, but that argument was used by climate-radicals, green left wing lunatics, activist judges and dumb politicians, to shut down that field after some complaints by the local population. Even worse, the government actually started pouring concrete in the wells and actively destroying the gas- installations

As a result, energy-prices are much higher, the entire Dutch powergrid is overloaded since in cloudy the Netherlands wind & sun are not reliable enough, and entire city-centers are broken up to build something called ¨heat-nets¨, some kind of soviet idea to redistribute heat

Now with the recent wars, the country and EU are wondering....¨where do we get our gas now that we are cut off from Russia....Qatar´s gas installations are damaged, and the USA under trump is not that reliable¨.

Can you imagine?
- As a nation, you are sitting on a massive gasfield with 100s of billions of $ still of natural gas, easily extractable with all infrastructure intact
- You can run your whole country on that field for like another 30 years and export to the EU in existing gas-pipes
- With exports you can build a Norway-like sovereign wealth fund that can last generations if well invested
- The government can pay people affected by the earthquakes huge compensation, make them all rich, or build them all stronger homes. I mean, countless people live well in areas with minor earthquakes all over the world
- On top there are scientists that say that the earthquakes can be diminished by injecting other liquids into the field
- And all the infrastructure for it is build, literally every Dutch home has a gas connection
- Meanwhile many nations are expanding their natural gas usage and production, so it is not as if using this field or not will make a difference in the whole climate-story, however it would make the difference for the Netherlands between being energy-poor or energy-rich, an unstable or stable electricity-supply, and with a well invested sovereign wealth fund, trillions of $ for future generations.

But what does the Netherlands do? We destroy the installations and fill the wells with concrete 😆🤡🫣

'Gisteren werd ik ruim 72 minuten (!) lang aangevallen in de Tweede Kamer. Alle gevestigde partijen zagen in mij - en niét in de massale immigratie - het grootste probleem. Verbijsterend.
PRO, CDA, D66, maar ook de VVD, Mona Keijzer, en natuurlijk de SP, DENK, en ChristenUnie proberen het debat over de ernstige gevolgen te taboeiseren.

Er was een tijd dat sparen gold als verstandig.
Dat je iets opzij zette voor later. Voor tegenvallers. Voor onderhoud aan je huis. Voor je pensioen. Voor je kinderen misschien.

Tegenwoordig lijkt de overheid vooral te denken:
mooi, daar kunnen we nóg een keer belasting op heffen.
Je werkt jarenlang. Iedere maand verdwijnt bijna de helft van je salaris richting Belastingdienst. Van wat overblijft spaar je een beetje. Je krijgt een bonus: belast. Je erft wat van je ouders: belast. Dat spaargeld groeit langzaam aan. Inflatie tikt door, maar ondertussen betaal je belasting over je vermogen.

Na tien jaar besluit je verstandig te investeren in je woning. Geen Lamborghini. Geen exotische constructie via een belastingparadijs. Gewoon een aanbouw omdat het gezin groeit. Een nieuwe keuken omdat de oude versleten is. Daarnaast onderhoud je het huis en doe je aan verduurzaming door te investeren in zonnepanelen en een warmtepomp. Netjes. Verantwoord.
Allemaal betaald van geld waar al belasting over betaald is.

Tien jaar later verkoop je je huis. De buurt is populairder geworden, huizenprijzen zijn gestegen, mede dankzij schaarste waar de overheid zelf jarenlang beleid op voerde. En daar is hij ineens: de overwaarde.
En dan begint het politieke morele vingertje.
Want inmiddels discussiëren we in Nederland openlijk over belasting op vermogensaanwas. Dus niet alleen belasting op rendement dat je daadwerkelijk ontvangt, maar op waardestijgingen op papier. Winst die nog niet eens gerealiseerd is. Geld dat misschien volledig vastzit in stenen.

Het wrange is niet eens alleen het bedrag. Het wrange is de mentaliteit erachter.
Alsof iedere vorm van opgebouwd vermogen verdacht is geworden. Alsof mensen die jarenlang voorzichtig leven, sparen, investeren en risico nemen een soort melkkoe zijn.

We zijn in Nederland inmiddels op een punt aangekomen dat dezelfde euro onderweg meerdere keren wordt aangeslagen:
bij verdienen,
bij sparen,
bij erven,
bij investeren,
bij bezit,
bij waardestijging,
en straks misschien zelfs bij niet-gerealiseerde winst.

Ondertussen roept diezelfde overheid dat burgers financieel weerbaarder moeten worden, zelf verantwoordelijkheid moeten nemen en minder afhankelijk moeten zijn.
Waarvan dan precies?
Want wie werkt, spaart, aflost, investeert en vermogen opbouwt, lijkt tegenwoordig vooral een wandelende fiscale kansberekening.

Veel politici verkopen dit alsof het alleen de ‘rijken’ raakt. Maar uiteindelijk raakt dit gewoon de Nederlandse middenklasse.

Nederland dreigt langzaam een land te worden waar bezit niet meer wordt gezien als resultaat van discipline, risico en jarenlang werken, maar als iets waar de overheid automatisch mede-eigenaar van is.

De nieuwe fiscale obsessie in Europa is simpel: belast niet wat iemand verdient, maar wat iemand bezit. Je huis, je spaargeld, je aandelen, je bedrijf. Alsof eigendom een abonnement is waarvoor je elk jaar huur moet betalen aan de staat. Alsof jij nooit echt eigenaar bent, maar slechts gedoogde bewaarder van wat de staat je voorlopig gunt.

Dat wordt verkocht als strijd tegen ongelijkheid. In werkelijkheid is het een aanval op het fundament van een vrije samenleving: het eigendomsrecht.
Politici zoals Pedro Sánchez in Spanje en economen zoals Gabriel Zucman doen alsof de oplossing eenvoudig is: pak de rijken, financier de verzorgingsstaat en iedereen wint.

Maar dat is een leugen die ze zelf ook kennen. Als je een grote verzorgingsstaat wilt onderhouden, moet je uiteindelijk de middenklasse belasten. Dat is precies wat Europa al decennia doet via inkomstenbelasting, btw en sociale premies. De rijken zijn daarvoor numeriek te klein. De rekening komt altijd bij de gewone burger terecht. Altijd!

Vermogensbelasting klinkt aantrekkelijk omdat ze zogenaamd alleen de rijksten raakt. Maar kapitaal werkt anders dan politici willen geloven. Kapitaal is mobiel. Kapitaal reageert. Kapitaal verdwijnt. En met kapitaal verdwijnen banen, investeringen en toekomst. Altijd.

De voorbeelden zijn gedocumenteerd en onweerlegbaar. Noorwegen zag een exodus van ondernemers en vermogende burgers nadat de vermogensbelasting werd verhoogd. Zweden had decennialang een zware vermogensbelasting en schafte die uiteindelijk af nadat kapitaal en ondernemers massaal vertrokken. Frankrijk joeg met zijn solidariteitsbelasting duizenden miljonairs het land uit en verloor enorme kapitaalstromen voor een opbrengst die nauwelijks de beleidskosten dekte. Dit zijn geen anekdotes. Dit is wat er altijd gebeurt.

En nu wil Nederland proefkonijn worden. Box 3 dreigt nu zelfs belasting op papieren winsten die nog niet gerealiseerd zijn. Je wordt belast op iets wat je nog niet hebt. Dat raakt niet alleen de ultrarijken. Het raakt particuliere beleggers, angel investors, starters, familiebedrijven en mensen die eindelijk proberen vermogen op te bouwen vanuit niets.

Dat is het punt dat de pathologische herverdelers structureel weigeren te begrijpen. Het probleem is niet alleen dat rijke mensen vertrekken. Het echte probleem ontstaat ook vóór iemand rijk wordt. De ingenieur, de consultant, de ondernemer in wording ziet dat succes steeds zwaarder wordt bestraft. Hij/zij spaart uit zwaar belast inkomen, neemt risico, werkt harder dan zijn omgeving, bouwt iets op, en zodra het lukt staat de staat klaar om mee te graaien. Op dat moment stopt hij. Of hij vertrekt. Of hij/zij begint nooit.

Het resultaat is precies het tegenovergestelde van wat links belooft. Bestaande vermogens worden beschermd, nieuwe toetreders worden geblokkeerd. De gevestigde rijke heeft structuren, adviseurs, internationale spreiding en juridische buffers. De nieuwe ondernemer heeft een laptop, wat spaargeld en risico. Juist hij wordt ontmoedigd. Juist hij betaalt de prijs van beleid dat zegt de rijken te treffen.

De GINI discussie verhult dit bewust. Nederland en Denemarken kunnen relatief laag scoren op inkomensongelijkheid dankzij herverdeling, terwijl vermogensongelijkheid hoog blijft. Inkomens nivelleren is niet hetzelfde als eigendom spreiden. De staat kan stromen herverdelen, maar creëert geen vrije kapitaalvorming. Integendeel: herverdeling vernietigt precies de prikkels die brede welvaart mogelijk maken.
Dit is geen rechtvaardigheid. Dit is georganiseerde verarming.

Een neomarxistische jacht op succesvolle mensen, verpakt als solidariteit, uitgevoerd door een klasse die zelf nooit iets heeft opgebouwd.

Europa heeft geen tekort aan belastingen. Europa heeft een tekort aan vrijheid, eigendom, kapitaal en lef. En Nederland dreigt opnieuw het proefkonijn te worden voor beleid dat iedereen armer maakt, behalve de staat zelf en haar achterlijke nomenklatura.

This heightened effect in women stems largely from bearing the disproportionate invisible mental load—the constant cycle of noticing, recalling, planning, and orchestrating household tasks.

Earnshaw suggests a realistic, three-part approach to reducing the stress–clutter spiral.

First, “shedding” involves intentionally minimizing possessions, including doing the emotional work required to let things go, in order to create more mental and physical space. Second, “preventing” focuses on systems: giving items clear “homes” so that decisions about where things go become automatic rather than mentally taxing. This may start with listing common types of clutter and designing dedicated spots for each (for example, a single, consistent place for receipts). Third, “adapting” asks families to accept that some clutter is inevitable in busy seasons of life and to concentrate on emotional regulation and co-regulation with partners, keeping stress and cortisol lower by adjusting expectations rather than striving for a perpetually picture-perfect home.
