I was super nervous about my first lab meeting, but discover it's not so scary after all... we're all on the same team!

I can believe this. I spent all 3 years of my undergrad doing research, and I logged at least 20 hrs/wk for the last two. Luckily, I was paid for my time. If I hadn’t, I would NOT have done it. Some of us gotta pay rent 🤷🏽♂️
Probably the first time I've worn a lab coat in over a decade. Also some other (better) photos from lab members. Totally not representative of how we normally look! with @BA_Stahl@kazukami and @DiariesResearch! @FauJupiter@FAUScience

For one of my side projects, I've been testing the effects of sleep deprivation in fruit flies. Which requires me to get to lab at/stay there till 3AM and then be there again in ~5 hours. Not sure if testing the effects of sleep deprivation in flies or in the experimenter 🤔
Check out the second episode of The Research Diaries- Very interesting ideas and discussion about how personality is linked to how we do research!
It was fun to participate, thanks for having me… @DiariesResearch
4. Perhaps we need to reclaim a place in science for "slowness" & give more value to contemplation & processing. We should respect those amongst us who may need to step away from the onslaught of preprints to spend time thinking about the data generated in their (& other) labs.
In this episode, I’ll discuss the diverse personalities of scientists, or how these differences impact the science itself. You’ll also get know know me, Jessica Chomik. My upbringing, struggles, and triumphs that helped spark my interest in research.
Walking into lab bright and early on a Saturday morning, I am surprised by how much work I got done last night while blackout drunk. Although I have no memory of this so maybe it was the elves......
