It is a traditional snack in old Beijing. It is green, smells bad but tastes good. It was invented by Wang Zhihe more than 300 years ago. Stinky tofu was once sent to the court as an imperial snack and was loved by Empress Dowager Cixi.
ใ้บปๅฉ่ฑ่ ใMapo Tofu
This dish is said to be invented in 1862 by a woman in Chengdu. There are some pockmarks on her face. Therefore, she's called "Mapo". And since she devised this dish, it was named after "Mapo Tofu".
