ive said it before, but this discourse only exists because people care more about the external validation of “being a fan” and “joining the fandom” than about the actual work
TP, like most 3D Zeldas, is hopelessly stuck in OOT's shadow, moreso than others for how much it sucks up to OOT & ultimately just is nowhere near as good. Dungeon quality is pretty good but the game's pacing is consistently bad, not to mention the regressive narrative after WW.
@trainerl15@worst_egirl Nothing's stopping you from resetting, IS has even directly acknowledged that, but that doesn't mean designing with permadeath is worthless. Shadow Dragon goes above & beyond to make ironmanning as appealing as possible, arguably even going overboard (freeclassing, generics).
@trainerl15@worst_egirl You have completely missed my point. My point is considering how well the game accommodates unit losses, is there a healthy stream of recruits, how build oriented is the game (the more investment oriented the game, the less permadeath friendly it is), and so on.
Xenoblade twt tripping over themselves to desperately try and connect this to the previous games when Monolith outright stated that Future Redeemed was it.
Let it go guys, Christ.
I do find it immensely funny that they show off the new Xenoblade 1 vehicles in Eryth Sea, like yeah even they knew that place fucking sucked to travel in.
@TheHuntsladyMHW I ltry to meet devs halfway on design decisions, but I genuinely cannot fathom a good reason to justify the inclusion of the CC in an expansion. I dislike Wilds's Wounds, but at least that's in the context of a base game. I can swallow that better than CC's arbitrary inclusion.
@TheHuntsladyMHW The most egregious bit to me was that it was introduced in an expansion, Base World's combat did not need it in the slightest & the CC brings nothing but problems to justify its existence. HP pools get horribly inflated, combat becomes very flowcharty, ruining the combat's flow.
