@AceThaGreatest@Flare_Labs@enosys_global $AVAX and $HBAR are both exciting ideas. I would love to see what other assets interest the community, as we have $PAXG just around the corner and $USDC right after. Maybe we can collectively reach out to their foundations and make it happen with the @enosys_global bridge!
We Think the @WelcomeApes initiative is a beautiful thing.
But it has one downside. It gives scammers an aggregated source of target wallets and X accounts to pursue from.
We've seen several new members in the last few weeks lose their apes and mutants and several more be relentlessly pursued by scammers.
90% of people don't know what it's like to be pursued by highly persistent and sophisticated scammers, and their lesson shouldn't cost them thousands or tens of thousands of dollars, shame, and embarrassment. We think they'd rather spend a couple hours of their time learning how to stay safe, for free.
Help us win the fight, and tell new apes about us. We need the community's help on this. It just doesn't look the same when we try and shill ourselves in the comments like every other web3 project. 😪
We have referral rewards for existing Alumni through @thriveprotocol to win ApeCoin. Let's get all club members, both new and old to take a Boring Security class. No more f'n around, fam!
One user who was scammed already deleted their twitter. Another deleted their post related to the hack. We're still seeing apes/mutants scammed week over week. Most leave quietly and never come back. It's time to go on offense. We have to fight back!
Bad Security advice makes people do bad things.
When you say things like:
1) "Never connect your hardware wallet to any sites"
>> This makes people send things to vulnerable software wallets to list/transact. This is bad. You can have multiple wallet addresses on your hardware wallets. Take advantage of this.
2) "Disconnect from that scam website!"
>> This makes people think they are safe by just disconnecting. When it in fact does little. Revoking approvals is what you need... provided its not too late (but a good hygeine practice nonetheless)
3) "Don't interact with random airdrops!"
>> This makes people overly cautious on interacting with tokens, and conflates what dangers actually exist, causing people to misunderstand their risk! Just don't end up on the random airdrop tokens website signing stuff!
4) "As long as you have no approvals, you're fine!"
>> While this may be true for most NFTs, this isn't true for any ERC-2612 enabled fungible token that can be "permitted" away from your wallet, as well as a lot of Web3 gaming assets that may be loosely coded.
5) "Gasless signatures are fine!"
>> Permit Signatures, NFT bulk listing signatures, ETH_SIGN, and a ton of custom off-chain signatures that are being baked in to tokens, NFTs and Web3 games these days all can carry risk if the wrong source is prompting you for them. Educate yourselves on what they look like, and the assets you hold, because Wallet Security Extensions can't save you from a lot of these!

Feel free to reach out to me or @0xbannik if you want to get some feedback from the viewpoint of an established team that has fully integrated Canary Networks into our development funnel.
We run every product through a rigorous dev funnel of
DEV>STG>PROD on each of the networks in the Flare ecosystem
Coston 1> Songbird > Coston 2 > Flare
That means that every change we make to both contracts and front end goes through at least 11 testing stages before it hits mainnet production.
It's slow. It's resource heavy. But it means that by the time something makes it to Mainnet, it works as it should and our users understand how it works and how to use it.
Honestly, there is going to be a lot of crossover starting this year between Flare and XRPL. It would be great to get a group together from @FlareNetworks@RippleXDev alongside product builders from each ecosystem and talk through what is possible and how we can grow together.
Maybe at Apex or Token 2049?
A long long time ago (actually: not that long, but we're in Crypto) I Tweeted some doubts about a Canary network to Hugo from Flare. In hindsight, I realize I was wrong.
The recent finding of a bug in the freshly launched AMM on the XRP Ledger shows the need for better testing. Testing with real value, on a network that isn't mainnet. Testing when an amendment is available, not when it was voted in and went live.
Yes, I'm talking a Canary network.
I'm not the first person to mention "Canary Network" in the context of the XRP Ledger. I've seen other people mention it before. The recent situation made me realise that we have a lot of things in place to, when combined, make this a reality.
It needs to be a separate network. With a native asset that has some value, so it makes sense for people to use it in real life scenarios, and makes sense for users & devs to test & try to exploit. There needs to be an upside to testing. Just like what happened now on mainnet, with AMM.
It needs not to reset, and stay full history. Just like mainnet.
It needs wallet support, support by tools, platforms, and open access, just like mainnet.
Most importantly: it needs to be a network from the community, for the community. From and for the projects, the developers, the ecosystem, the traders, the holders: for everyone. So everyone has an equal opportunity to participate in "Canary activities".
The coming days, I'll have some chats with other ecosystem participants, with our compliance officer & legal, with other projects, etc. To organize thoughts, challenges, possibilites & work towards a proposal the that will make sense for the entire ecosystem -in the broadest sense.
Don't call me, I'll call you.
Please save your thoughts, I'll make sure there will be a place where ideas, suggestions, thoughts, doubts, etc. can be shared. Then to organise that with a bunch of us, because this can not be and will not just my own plan: it will be a plan by, from, and for the entire tech/developer/XRPL/user/... comunity.
To be continued :)
The devs, influencers and wider crypto communities are acknowledging Songbird as we hit a bull market and F-asset testing on $SGB is as little as 5 week away…
Give me a finger if you’re a SGB holder who’s excited for what’s coming?!??
