1. The hospital bill is not cheap
2. If u have insurance is not cheap too
3. And is the last tourney where there is money if u didn’t qual for world
And 2k a month in this economy…
Clash Royale esports is slowly destroying itself and it’s not the fault of the players nor the community.
I have a lot of experience in esports in general for around 15 years now. I have been a player, coach and manager in various big esports titles.
Yet I have to say that I have never seen anything like the competitive side in Clash Royale and here I am trying my best to explain why.
This year we have seen a change in the format, which was good and healthy to the overall playerbase rewarding 64 players out of the 1500 that were able to participate per month. Yet it is not enough in general.
Let's take a few players as an example for this year's season until now:
CAL Sub - highest points without a ticket - earnings: 12.600$ just from CRL
Adriel - second highest points without a ticket - earnings: 12.150$ just from CRL
Lucas - underperforming this year and currently in LCQ - earnings: ~2.500$
Of course we don't know the prizepool for world finals until now and this is usually 70-75% of the whole prizemoney spent for the year.
But still these numbers are shocking compared to the potential this game has.
In every CRL stream players are usually described as "pros" - although the defintion of a pro player is that he doesn't have to work on the side or something else to make money. This is definitely not the case here. Everyone in the top spots has to make content or something else to make a living. (Aslong you are not living in a financially weak country)
We are in August right now, so these numbers divided by 8 are 312,5$ per month for Lucas and ~1.550$ for Adriel and Sub.
From that money usually 10-20% go into coaches, so Lucas is left with 265$ per month, Adriel and Sub are left with 1.320$ per month. Again, it depends on where you live, but in general this is not a lot to make a living.
If you are playing this game on the side and you are that good then it's great money, but this is not the case for the top CRL players. I think that Sandbox's statistics on how much he is practicising was a good example for that. Even if we take a look at players spending less time on practicing we are still at around 4-5h min. per day just spending time on practicing. Of course with your coach.
I dont know if this matches the definition of an actual pro player so far, but I wouldn't say so.
Let's get more into detail though why the esports scene is getting worse and worse.
2024 was the last time organizations got visibility at the world finals displaying the SKCalalas Logo in the stream and on the big screens. This is the bare minimum for an organization in general, in every esports title when signing a player. Still this did not happen in 2025 and it won't in 2026, because for some reason organizations are not supported really by Clash Royale's competitive department.
Why is that a problem though?
Let's get back into the part with the finances:
A player AND the coach usually get a salary from an organization and in return the player and/or the coach do advertisement for brands that are working with an org. That salary basically secures that player and coach can fully focus on what they are doing and actually live the life of a professional player. Because there is no conceirn about financial problems - even if you lose, your salary covers your expenses more or less.
Without supporting orgs in Clash Royale, there are no orgs willing to actually step into the game.
This comes down to following reasons:
- no visibility, almost feeling actively left out
- leaving out potential brands as sponsors that are crypto- or gambling related.
- no communication with orgs about anything (further details later)
There is no reason at all to step into this game as an org and to make the competitive environment a safe space for good performance of players. The only reason left is gambling on the performance of a player by having a contract for X salary for Y amount of percentages from earnings. This has never been sustainable and never will. Either side loses on this and this should not be the case in esports.
Generally I think it is good looking at the situation around gambling that gambling is not supported, yet this is currently the most important sponsor for orgs. I have talked to various orgs this year on why they wouldn't dive into Clash Royale and it is mostly because of the reasons I named above. Even when there were some and I tried to connect them to Supercell employees then nothing happened again for the same reasons.
So leaving out orgs in general which provide a financially safe environment for players to practice and perform well so we can have the best version of each player leads to a monopoly in the playerbase. And I think it will hurt the scene and the community.
Because in the end it will only be those who can actively practice a lot that are not reliant on the money, because they won a lot before or persue a career in streaming like Ryley, Ian, Mo or others. Obviously it's good to have content creators in the scene and these are all brilliant players. Yet in the longrun players that are not making content or anything else will not have the time to practice as much or spend that much time in general on the game.
I wouldn't say that bringing back teams as a format would be better, although I personally like the format aswell, because the solo format allows more fairness in terms of qualifying, but it should be taken into consideration that when we had the teams format and big orgs were there that CR esports was on its peak.
Salaries from orgs back then for a player were in the mid four digits. Now it's around 1000$ for some of the best players. I wonder why that is.
Content is important to secure brand deals with orgs, not possible though, because no brands are interested in going into Clash Royale. Why? Because there is no visibility and that starts with the smallest details.
For example graphics on X or Instagram showing players. Some of the players that are actively signed to an org still have their photos from last year's world finals. (e.g. Vitor75) - That is simply because orgs can not really reach out to Supercell to actively change that and if no main sponsor on the jersey is displayed then why should a brand actively invest into an org, when they can't be seen on the smallest things like graphics, streams whatsoever.
Prizemoneywise there were a lot of complains last year that the prizepool for worlds being 500k or being 750k in total for CRL being too low, since there was such a hype around the game because of Jynxzi. Yes, that is true, but it's not so simple. The financial household for a company is planned the year before something happens. And the total generated revenue in 2024 was 200 million $. So the total prizepool put into comparison to the 2024 total revenue was 0,00375%. Obviously revenue is not profit and I can't find that number now without actually looking into the financial report from Supercell from 2024.
But according to this percentage and the revenue of 535 million $ in 2025 the general prizepool for the season would be slightly above 2 million $. So subtracting the monthly finals would leave us with a prizepool for worlds of 1,73 million $. Let's see if that's going to happen. If we would substract the same prizepool for LCQ that the MFs had then we would have a PP for worlds of 1,676 million $. But as I have heard that the LCQ won't have a PP I didn't really took it into consideration. Which is another disgrace in my opinion if that's the actual case.
Meanwhile there are tournaments for Streamers with the same prizepool over and over again. Is it cool seeing Ryley playing in it? Definitely, because his gameplay is great. But there are others in those events that I haven't even heard of before. These events are cool in general, if there would simply be more support for players, coaches and orgs with more tournaments and leagues to be played.
Heroes Creator Showdown 50k Prizepool (4 teams, so lowest prizemoney was 5k)
King of the Arena Creator Showdown 25k Prizepool (1,5k min prizemoney)
Center Stage Creator Showdown 75k Prizepool (8 teams, only NA, min prizemoney 7,5k)
Creator Showdown English v Spanish 50k Prizepool (2 teams only)
Thats is 200k in Prizepool for creators only. Cool events, but is it fair towards the "pro players" and the other people working behind CRL from the player's side that there is almost the same PP without worlds throughout the year?
Speaking of money and to name one good thing: you pay for the player's hotel and flight. But those that work at supercell, do they fly business class to worlds? Those that actually participate at worlds as a player, what class do they get to fly to worlds?
Do coaches or managers actually get acknowledged at all - maybe even for the After Party? No, nothing. These people are just Phantoms to you.
All of which is something that all these people wouldn't care about if there were orgs covering those expenses, but you chose to not support them.
Also I wonder why other mobile esports titles are being supported by big tournaments like the Esports World Cup. Obviously I have no insights into Supercell and why they are not working with the EWC, but it also leads again to the fact that no orgs want to go into Clash Royale and Clash of Clans. At least Brawl Stars is somewhat actively supported, but without any disrespect, there aren't a lot of S Tier esports orgs either.
There have been orgs I have been in talks to that are in the range of S Tier, having the biggest brands imaginable that you can have in esports. Everyone loves the game, but not the environment around it, so they stay away.
It's heartbreaking to see how the world of esports is somewhat coming back to life after Covid, slowly but steady and what did we get so far?
Super disappointed
Ofc the admins didn’t put themselves in asaf situation if they did the story would have been different 😢
Fuck u assholes
Any plus the viewers don’t give a fuck about the cameras
