🚀 Excited to share our latest work on STimage-1K4M, an open-source dataset with 1,149 slides from spatial transcriptomics and ~4 million sub-tile images-gene expression pairs! It paves the way for advanced research in multi-modal data analysis and computational pathology.
Happy to share that our paper "The ICML 2023 Ranking Experiment: Examining Author Self-Assessment in ML/AI Peer Review" will appear in JASA as a Discussion Paper:

It's a privilege to work with such a wonderful team: Buxin, Jiayao, @natalie_collina, Yuling, @DidongLi, @kchonyc, Jianqing, and @Aaroth.
Humbled and grateful for this shoutout 🙏
(And yes, 李螮蝀 is a bit of a tongue twister — even in Mandarin!)
Excited to share our paper on generative AI theory — link in the original post.

💡I was lucky to meet Prof Dídōng Li at a meeting at UNC [1]
[1] for Chinese speakers, his name is also culturally interesting 李螮蝀 as characters 螮蝀 are not commonly used* in modern Chinese. 螮 (dí) and 蝀 (dōng) both refer to mythical creatures, and the pronunciation of 李螮蝀 might not be immediately clear even to Mandarin speakers because of the rare usage of 螮 and 蝀
💡OK do check out the cool paper. I am too tired to do an explainer tonight but may do tomorrow
*I do not know Chinese but this is interesting to me, perhaps Chinese speakers will know
Please read our statement on the remarks made by Dr. Rosalind Picard at her NeurIPS 2024 invited talk and our commitment to respect, inclusivity, and upholding our values:

NeurIPS acknowledges that the cultural generalization made by the keynote speaker today reinforces implicit biases by making generalisations about Chinese scholars. This is not what NeurIPS stands for. NeurIPS is dedicated to being a safe space for all of us. We want to address the comment made during the invited talk this afternoon, as it is something that NeurIPS does not condone and it doesn't align with our code of conduct. We are addressing this issue with the speaker directly.
NeurIPS is dedicated to being a diverse and inclusive place where everyone is treated equally.
