This survey also aims to find out how the Dig To Share team can best support the industry when using the BGS Geoindex tools, working with AGS and sharing ground investigation data in the future.

It has been a 4 years since we started Dig To Share and to get an understanding of how things may have changed across the industry, in terms of the use/sharing of ground investigation data and the use of the data hosted within the BGS Geoindex we have put together a survey! 1/2
The presentation will cover the digital data journey, looking at how BGS is developing innovative methods of data ingestion, storage and dissemination to enable our stakeholders and customers to have access to the many datasets we hold.
Come meet some of the Dig To Share team this Wed & Thu at @GEOBusinessShow held at Excel London. Steve Thorpe (@ornithom) will be presenting the "digital data journey" on 24th Nov at 2:30pm and the Dig To Share team will be around Stand D6!

Our website is now back online after some maintenance to the i3P site over the last few months. There is now more information than ever on the project, Data Sharing Agreements, the Big Borehole Dig and how to get involved, so take a look: https://t.co/Ovo7V5D2ZT #OpenData
It is the 1 year anniversary since the start of the #BigBoreholeDig and there has been over 3200 boreholes digitised. This community initiative has really grown in the last year and a big thanks goes out to all those who have been involved! #Boreholes

Here are the latest statistics from the #BigBoreholeDig, courtesy of @ornithom. The green dots show where people have helped digitise borehole data across the UK which is now fast approaching 3000! Get involved find out more here: https://t.co/EoBmu4G2no
And speaking of the #BigBoreholeDig here are the latest stats from the BGS, courtesy of @ornithom. There has been a big push in the south over the last month but numbers are still low in the NE and Scotland. If you want to get involved find out more here: https://t.co/EoBmu4G2no
In the April/May @agsgeotech Magazine there is an article all about the #BigBoreholeDig and how the Citizen Science Initiative is ensuring that our historical borehole data is available for future generations as digital data https://t.co/uKvgMT4YyS (pages 26-28) #OpenData

A Memorandum of Understanding has been signed between the @BritGeoSurvey and @HighwaysEngland to provide open access borehole data to the industry. This sits alongside the Data Sharing Agreements already in place with the Environment Agency, Welsh Government and Network Rail!
BGS & @HighwaysEngland signed a Memorandum of Understanding to provide open access borehole data to industry, providing geological descriptions, thickness of formations and material properties of soils and rocks which can be used to inform engineering & construction projects.
We had quite a few deposits over the Christmas break. Let’s keep that momentum going into 2021!
If you are interested in joining in with this Community Science Initiative then click the link below to find out more. Thanks to those who have deposited so far.

Webinar alert: Our very own Steve Thorpe will be presenting the next BDA Webinar on 11/2/21 discussing "The Data Journey" including the Big Borehole Dig and Dig To Share. Be sure to join the webinar to find out more. #DigToShare#Geology#Boreholes#OpenData
We have just released a new Data Sharing Agreement between @BritGeoSurvey and @WelshGovernment that is now available to view on the BGS website. For all Welsh Government funded projects, Ground Investigation data should be shared with the BGS as #opendata
