Robert Moses was an infamous New York city planner in the 1950s. He was famously pro-car and essentially the arch nemesis of urban planning legend Jane Jacobs. Moses planned this horrendous expressway through Manhattan. Largely thanks to Jacobs this thing was never built.

@Zeitich @stekkerauto @simongerman600 @ElonsPadawan 1/2 They aren't important, yet they are different. Cutting daily commute by 15 mins within city regions has bigger effects than cutting travel time by 40 mins for commuting between city regions every now and than.

A decision based on nuanced analysis can have structural impact.

Focusing on high speed train connections does so to some extend on the expense of regular commutes.
