KDP isn’t just about publishing more books.
Strong results come from understanding your readers, researching demand, improving your books, and learning from your data.
The goal isn’t to publish endlessly.
The goal is to publish strategically
Every KDP author has done this:
You create a book cover you really like…
Then you look at it the next morning and suddenly start wondering if you should redesign the whole thing
Stop using PDFs as your lead magnets.
I’ll keep saying it because I see people making this mistake over and over again.
If the PDF is your actual low-ticket product, fine.
Sell it.
Use it as a tripwire.
Use it to introduce people to your other offers.
But if you’re calling it a lead magnet, I would seriously reconsider.
Especially if your audience is mostly Nigerian or African.
People will read a long sales page when they’re interested in buying because there is a clear reason to keep reading.
But give that same person a 30-page PDF and say, “Download this and read it later”?
Good luck. 😂
They download it.
They tell themselves they’ll read it later.
And later never comes.
That’s why I prefer something like a VSL for many offers.
Give them the information in a format they can consume immediately.
Get them to understand the problem.
Show them the solution.
Build KLT.
Then move them toward the offer.
And think about it.
If your PDF eventually tells them to watch a video before buying anyway, why not send them directly to the video?
Your lead magnet should actually move people closer to the sale.
Not just give them another file sitting somewhere in their Downloads folder.
If you want my guide on how to use funnels and choose better lead magnets for your business, comment MAGNET and I’ll send it to you.

Before publishing, search your main keyword on Amazon.
Study the first page: What are the top books doing well? What are readers complaining about?
Use that information to make your book more competitive not to copy them.
Use your book’s reviews as free market research.
Look at what readers praise, complain about, and wish was included. Those insights can help you improve your existing books and create better ones.
Don’t choose a category just because it has less competition.
Make sure it actually matches your book and the readers you want to reach.
Relevance first. Competition second.
You finally publish your book and think, “Now I can relax
Then you remember you still have to promote it, watch the results, respond to readers, and start thinking about your next book
The work doesn’t end at “Publish.” 📚
Before publishing, look at your competitors’ reviews.
They can show you what readers love, what they complain about, and what your book could do better.
Research the reader, not just the niche.

I thought the hardest part of KDP would be writing the book
Turns out, it’s staying patient when you’ve put in the work and the sales don’t come as quickly as you expected
That part can really test you
KDP will teach you one thing very quickly:
Publishing is not the finish line.
You can publish a good book and still have to figure out how to get the right readers to notice it.
That’s where the real learning begins.
