I work for a national newspaper. If a PR sends in a press release then phones to ask if it was received, I point blank refuse to use it, no matter what it is.

Internet safety is a new concern. Schools don't always teach it. Parents and carers aren't sure how to explain it.
So, for our latest project, we re-wrote the stories and re-illustrated the pictures of four childhood classics, injecting valuable online safety awareness.
We used @BuzzSumo to look into the most common Digital PR campaign formats over the past 5 years to see what types are growing or declining in popularity and success.

This is what I love about #digitalpr
Our agency came up with an idea and developed the product with our client.
Little did we know this was the clients last shot before closing the doors. The product went viral, sold out and single handedly saved the business.

Love this campaign from @tankpr and @Motorfinityuk Great use of data while tackling a major issue affecting everyday people. #digitalpr

I find it interesting how links came to be used in search engine algorithms.
Before links, search engine results were a disorganised mess.
But the co-founders of Google, both from academic backgrounds realised links weren't too dissimilar from citations in academic writing.

Despite the trolls the celeb jets campaign we did for ourselves is a career high♥️
- 3315 pieces of coverage in dream publications
- 3119 links to @YardDigital
- 3 new biz pitches with sustainable brands
- 1 RFP from top UK department store
Lesson: if u have a good idea, do it.
Do you include links from industry newsletters in your coverage reports? And what about links from other agencies adding your campaigns to round-up posts?
🚨PR TIP: Twitter is your BFF! Simply pop your target journalists role in the search bar, head to people and find super relevant folks to send your story to! 'SECTOR' then 'editor', 'reporter', 'journalist' and 'writer' are my go-to! 🔗✨🌻
I had a lot of thoughts in relation to @nicholasgfearn's tweet about agencies offering £ for coverage.
1) I've seen it from journos too and 2) I don't buy that most are 'PR' agencies.
