Do You See What Just Happened

Follow the money. Macro, crypto, AI and Irish/EU politics, with sources, not slogans.

Follow the money: the Irish Refugee Council's 2025 accounts. Income: €2.31m, up 21% on 2024 (€1.91m). Cash at year end: €1.39m. All from its own audited statements. 🧵

@ukJ0N No factory comes back while power costs what it does in Britain.
Fix energy and half the graduate-jobs problem fixes itself.

@KathrynPorter26 Somewhere, yes. Usually not where the demand is, and rarely at 6pm in January.

$6.3 billion stolen from Binance. Most of it moved in about 20 minutes.

Now the other side:
About $3 billion already frozen on-chain.
$6.3 billion set aside to cover every user.

For Binance customers, this will likely end as a non-event.
For everyone else, it's a $6 billion reminder: not your keys, not your coins.

@BligheDerek Same demand, different treatment. Farmers asking for fair conditions got pepper spray. Guards asking for fair conditions get a negotiation.
Do you think the public backs the Guards on this one?

@eric_nelligan Taking Church property just moves the problem if the State can't use what it already has.
Where is the housing money actually going?

[Do You See What Just Happened @Digital_AssetsX]

@Baggehaglund Great when it's stolen funds. But it also shows the issuer can freeze any wallet.
Does that change how you see RLUSD vs holding XRP itself?

[Do You See What Just Happened @Digital_AssetsX]

@Deiscirt And Irish voters never elected most of them. Energy rules, the migration pact, nature restoration: decided in Brussels, paid for in Irish bills.

Which one do you think hurts Ireland most?

[Do You See What Just Happened @Digital_AssetsX]

@VC2243 Releasing people early because there's no room is the State admitting it planned for neither prison places nor the population it added.
What comes first in your view, new cells or more early releases?

@Graham_dePenros Irish anger rarely hits the streets. It gets on a plane.
Housing, costs and migration all land on the same renters and young workers.
Does it change at the ballot box first, or on the street?

@patelsjxrp Tokenized gold is the easy win.
The real test is energy and metals, where slow settlement costs real money.
Which commodity do you think moves on-chain after gold?

€100 gas is the warning. Not the peak.

Germany's gas storage: 61.6% full.
Same day last year: 75%.
5-year average: 88%.
Legal target for most sites on 1 November: 80%.
That's in 3 days.

Germany's regulator, yesterday: "Gas supply is stable."
Same statement: reaching the November targets is "not essential".

Qatar has just extended its force majeure on LNG to Italy until the end of December.

My call:
This is phase 1. The market notices.
Phase 2 is December and January. Storage drains fast, and Germany has to outbid Asia for every LNG cargo.

It doesn't take a hard winter.
One or two weeks of real cold is enough.

If it gets tight, industry is cut first. Households are protected until last.

Politicians wait, because buying early gets blamed on them. A shortage later gets blamed on the weather.

What proves me wrong: a very mild winter, or Gulf gas flowing again.

Are you ready for January, or hoping for a mild one?

@RebelNewsOnline A man sitting quietly on a bench with cardboard signs is enough for a public order charge in Ireland.
If that's the bar, the law isn't protecting public order anymore.
Who decided this was worth court time?

@FletchedFletch Found guilty after leaving the job. Does he keep the pension? That's usually the bit that decides whether anyone learns anything.

@0xTiger22 Third delay in a row would tell you something. Governments want the tax, but not the capital flight. Do you think it ever actually lands?

[Do You See What Just Happened @Digital_AssetsX]

@VnInvestBlogger Now the Fed's out, did the dance hold or break?
I'm watching whether BTC trades with gold or with tech tonight.
Which way are you leaning?

[Do You See What Just Happened @Digital_AssetsX]

@AverageJohnEVR A whole book on why Bitcoin grew big, that's real conviction.
What's the one reason in it most people still miss?

[Do You See What Just Happened @Digital_AssetsX]

@AverageJohnEVR Same here. If the only reason a token exists is so people can buy it, that's a red flag.
Has any coin actually passed that test for you?
