A rather unusual event recently took place overnight at Hestercombe 🦇
A small colony of lesser horseshoe bats decided to take roost in our ticket office toilets.
The toilets will be closed until our little friends find their way back to the cosy lofts of our Visitor Centre.
Come and visit us on Sunday afternoon, from 2-4. We are celebrating peak tomato season with a display of tomato varieties and and a cup of tea in the barn. If you would like to bring some of your tomatoes to add to the display we would be delighted. P81 HP71
"Swimming in contaminated water can lead to gastroenteritis, hepatitis, giardiasis, skin rashes, amoebic dysentery, nose, ear, and throat problems, pink eye, and other respiratory illnesses."
Just as the school holidays approach.

Most tomato flowers have inserted stigma but others like this heritage Ukrainian Heart have excerted stigma and bees can easily pollinate them. When saving seed varieties like this one should be bagged or grown in isolation from other tommies with similar flowers
Very odd to see people still naming BBC presenters who they think are involved in the latest scandal.
If you casually throw out the name on here then it could cost you 1000s of pounds

*Warning* Check yourself for Ticks! My wife has been in A&E today & is now on a severe course of Antibiotics. Took one off her over a week ago & this weekend Bullseye Rash appeared. This is now an oval shape & increasing in size. Rare, but tick's been picked up in #LakeDistrict
Just got a scam automated call from 'HMRC' on my mobile. Electronic voice with US accent telling me I hadn't replied to a letter and legal action was being started... "press 1 to urgently speak to an agent".
Decided to play along and see what happened. Pressed 1, man answered saying HMRC, I said "Hello can you tell me which HMRC office you are part of please."
That was enough. He rang off. No fun at all!
