No media outlet or politician seems willing to talk about this but we must. This could be one of the most serious environmental and public health issues in Punjab.

This video, sent to me on 2 September 2026, is from the HPCL & HMEL refinery near Kanakwal village, Bathinda which produces petroleum fuels and petrochemicals.

According to local residents, Kanakwal village alone has more than 50 cancer patients, and skin diseases are reportedly affecting many children. Residents even say that at night, the flames and gas emissions are so intense that it feels like daytime.

Thousands of people living nearby believe the refinery is violating pollution norms and that harmful emissions are being released without adequate monitoring or accountability.

Please repost and share this so it reaches the higher authorities. Sometimes public attention is the only way to ensure an issue is properly investigated! Atleast for humanity sake!
