Interesting how Western analysts/ media, in this case @RestIsPolitics completely ignore Idlib, & the 8 years in which Ahmad al-Sharaa was a de-facto ruler of the region.
They seem fascinated by the "former jihadist turned president" narrative, ignoring what's between.
Anyone who has followed Syria closely will know that Idlib was almost an independent state -including an army, governing bodies, and institutions, even if they had serious flaws, including accusations of corruption/ inequality.
His rule was far from secret.
