@CountBinface Am I correct in assuming that the line "Tomorrow belongs to you, and you and me" was inspired by the Hitler Youth Movement's song which featured in Cabaret ("Tomorrow belongs to me")?

@TheRealJamieKay Makes no difference. The only way to survive a 19 hour flight is to be extremely tired when you board the plane and sleep the entire flight.
@elonmusk Freedom of thought is what counts. Next is freedom of expression (through words and through actions). Arrests flow from the misuse of the freedom of expression.
@SkyNews The Government needs to focus on the quality of life you can achieve if you earn the average salary. The goal should be to be self-suffient and not requiring any state support. For those on lower salaries, state support can cut in according to circumstances and (special) needs.
@ProfBrianCox The very low position of "berk" is fascinating given that it is rhyming slang ("Berkeley Hunt"). This means that you can be extremely offensive with hardly anyone realising it. π
@afneil To balance my comment on the BBC News: I saw the BBC's Politics Live show (28th November 2024). It was the best news/current affairs programme I've seen in a long time. Viki Young allows the panellists to talk and you really learn a lot about their thinking beyond the rhetoric.
@afneil The BBC News is probably suffering from "clickbait" syndrome. Syria is newsworthy. Gregg Wallace, alleged to have done something wrong whilst hosting a popular BBC programme, is clickbait. I think that many of the newspapers also led with Gregg Wallace on their front pages.
@godwintrem@Peston Many budgets to come between now and then. And in-between there are 5 years to create growth. Growth comes from the people of a country not from necessarily from its Government.
@bbclaurak Par for the course. She has always shown a deep interest in the problems of the Labour Party even when the Tories had an 80 seat majority and so the role of the main opposition party was largely irrelevant.
@LadyJules_Cath@JonathanPieNews Johnson's majority was built on leaving the EU (Brexit) not sand. I can think of other words beginning with "s" to describe Brexit but "sand" (or "success" for that matter) is not one of them!
@brexit_sham@Nigel_Farage Excuse my ignorance, but wasn't this always the case whilst the UK was inside the EU because it chose not to be a part of the Schengen area? Maybe there are further checks needed now because the UK is outside the EU (and single market). But there should always have been checks.
@onedecisionpod@DavidGHFrost "Top negotiator" is a relative measure I assume. He may still have fallen well short of what was needed on the UK's side. To use an EU-type of expression he may not have been (post facto) "fit for purpose".
