It’s difficult to consider this a uniquely “dark day” for the world. For over one year, we have seen scenes of children shredded by US-made bombs on our mobile phones. The darkness has been here for awhile.
Things have just got a lot more difficult . Here’s what I think . I had no control over what just happened . None . But I do have control over how I will react to it . And I am not going to give up on the beautiful and the good , the grip on my dreams just got tighter .
Carbon capture instead of stopping oil & gas
EVs instead of reducing car dependency
Ocean cleanups instead of stopping plastic production
Planting trees instead of ending deforestation
Ever notice how all the fashionable 'solutions' are all aimed at not changing anything?
I went to Belfast last year and did a tour with a former IRA insurgent. He said when he was 14, British soldiers shot up his apartment bloc killing someone he knew. He joined the IRA's youth wing after that, then joined the IRA when he was 18. He was vague but said
Iran's attack on Israel was a) aimed at military targets and b) didn't kill any Israeli civilians.
The result? The UK imposing sweeping sanctions on Iranian officials and organisations.
Israel wipes Gaza from the face of the earth.
The result? The UK keeps arming Israel.
Every day, I think "what depraved crime does Israel have to commit until those who are silent speak out?"
Here, a United Nations report finds Israel deliberately destroyed Gaza's healthcare system as part of a policy of "extermination".
Literally:
What
Does
It
Take
In 2010, the NHS was rated the fairest, most efficient & cost-effective healthcare system in the world.
The Tories spent 14 years buggering it up.
We don't need "reform", FFS, Labour.
We need the NHS put back to its unbuggered-up state.
Which means un-privatise it and fund it
What's happening in Gaza is totally unacceptable.
A school turned shelter for around 12,000 people was hit by Israeli airstrikes again today.
Six of our @UNRWA colleagues are among those killed.
These dramatic violations of international humanitarian law need to stop now.
🔴 Labour
🔴 Won't tax the rich
🔴 More austerity
🔴 Won't ban all arms sales to Israel
🔵 Tories
🔵 Won't tax the rich
🔵 More austerity
🔵 Won't ban arms sales to Isreal
🟢 Greens
🟢 Will tax the rich
🟢 Will invest in Britain
🟢 Will ban arms sales to Israel
The richest 1% of Britons hold more wealth than 70% of the population, and the four richest individuals have more wealth than 20 million Britons.
Austerity is, and always has been, a political choice.
Disgusted and furious that my friend @LarchMaxey was just sentenced to 3 years in prison for taking part in a @JustStop_Oil action. 2024 is already the hottest year on record, and these brave souls are firmly on the right side of history. Justice was NOT served today. Shame.

What’s happening in Gaza, the fact it goes on and on, day after day, massacre after massacre, ًis so horrific it’s hard to put into words, a world-changing crime against humanity facilitated and enabled by global leaders who should have fought with every last breath to stop it
