One time a therapist was like “give yourself a reward for completing a task” and I was like “or I could just give myself the reward anyway and not do the annoying boring daunting task” and she was like… oh.
Three more days until Six Extinctions opens at the Bruce Museum! Check out this amazing life reconstruction of Tiktaalik, the Devonian “fishapod” that Sean Murtha created as a special addition to the exhibition.
One of the craziest box office weekends underway: BACKROOMS by 20-year old Kane Parsons on track to make at least $80M at this point. OBSESSION to make MORE in its 3rd wkdn ($28.5) than its 1st & 2nd wkdns...and more than GROGU (around $24M). https://t.co/5BIZqKJG3B
While it's part of the discourse du jour, anyone remember a (heavily stylized) Allosaurus phone wallpaper circa 2018? Reminiscent of a Japanese woodblock print, solid colors and lines (mostly blue and red), obviously done by a paleoartist or at least someone who knew anatomy well
Mad God (2021) is a dark, surreal stop-motion nightmare brought to life by legendary visual effects artist Phil Tippett, known for his groundbreaking work on Star Wars and Jurassic Park. Meticulously handcrafted over the course of 30 years, the film stands as one of the most ambitious stop-motion projects ever created.

@eiszett Have you read all the sources you ever cited? During my PhD we, along with dozens of other papers, cited a paper that I later found did not contain the result for which it was commonly cited. I should be banned I guess.
It seems silly to point out, but after living through the recent "you don't actually need to read your citations" discourse on this website, it is VERY refreshing to see people actually Doing The Work
And excellent work it is!
TEX is the culmination of my PhD research. Not only do we describe & figure our new species in exhaustive detail, but we include a revised phylogenetic dataset for analysis of Mosasauridae, & my measurement dataset for HUNDREDS OF MOSASAURS & EXTANT LIZARDS-& it's ALL OPEN ACCESS
A true pilgrimage to paleo Mecca. This is *THE* type locality of the Morrison Formation. I laughed. I cried. I prayed to the Old Gods (Marsh, Cope, Hatcher, Gilmore, Lull, & Mook) for Morrison success, & I may have left an offering. Thanks to Amy Atwater for this opportunity!!!!
Everything IS bigger in Texas...
Introducing TYLOSAURUS REX–“TEX”. A monster animal, a monster paper, & a monster project that I am *so* excited to finally share with everyone after ~5 yrs. Huge thanks to my coauthors, Mike & Ron, & to Alderon Games for bringing our lad to life!!
