Imagine the aura of the two pilots who were sitting in the passenger seats, rushed to the cockpit after the pilot was stabbed, took over control of the plane mid-air, and landed it safely with 170+ passengers on board.
Pure heroic, superhero act.
Meet Yaniv Hayoun, one of the passengers who helped prevent a catastrophe aboard FlyDubai flight FZ1073.
With no security or aviation background, Hayoun ran towards the cockpit after realising there was an attempted hijacking. He fought the attacker who had stabbed the pilot, and dragged him away from the controls.
As the aircraft plunged thousands of feet, Hayoun pulled back on the yoke and helped bring the plane out of its dive. An off-duty pilot then took over the flight.
Hayoun returned to help guard the restrained attacker until the aircraft could make an emergency landing in Saudi Arabia.
Know your real Avengers 🚨
- Captain Smit Machchhar, who fought the attacker and opened the cockpit
- Asaf Redjuan, who rushed at the attacker
- Israeli dad Tzvika Mans, who tied the attacker with a cable so he couldn't move
- Yaniv Hayon, who handled the aircraft and kept it stable
- Dr. Shota Musaev, who treated the captain and stopped the excessive bleeding.
They all worked together and made sure all those 180 passengers landed safely. Truly, men are brave 🙏
