@csm_screencaps Even as someone who likes Yoru and Death, Makima just clears since she pretty much is the main antagonist of CSM given how even after her death in Part 1, the vacuum left from her absence and damage she did to Denji's psyche led to the OG timeline dying

I haven't even peeped the general reactions yet but I really love Chainsaw Man's ending.

AS FOR PART 2 AS A WHOLE THOUGH? I love the first two acts (Intro thru Aging) immensely but the last act definitely felt like a sprint. Fakesaw & Death especially needed some more time to shine. I wish the story emphasized how hopeless everything became for the characters.

The concept of Denji ignorance-is-blissing his way into the bad ending and Pochita having to reset everything rules, the execution is so-so though because the story doesn't really hone in on the despair.

Seeing the world fall apart with something akin to some scenes we got during the Rumbling in AoT and showing Denji & Asa struggle against the bugs would've went a long way in making everything feel truly hopeless. But as of rn I think Fujimoto used Denji being so caught up on his own bullshit to avoid doing allat.

There's a lot of good moments in those last 40 or so chapters, but there's also a lot of glossing over things and you can feel Fujimoto's bad habit of wanting to draw cool things only once kick into high gear. (Ex: Barem never going hybrid mode. Staying human has narrative purpose but I def think Fujimoto just didn't wanna draw those fuel tanks)

Final chapter does a lot to solidify that I really fw Part 2 though. I'm just as vulnerable to cliches and "character you love! clap!" as much as anyone else because I love these characters so much!!

It does give catharsis to see Denji freed from the neverending war for Chainsaw Man's heart, so in that sense, I do feel like Part 2 paid off. It's absolutely a themes and such ending, but one that works for me.

(Pochita was clearly still wrong about Denji being happier when he had less btw. His logic gave us a way better timeline though!!!)
