💧🪨Getu River: A Beam of Light, Ancient Caves, Hearing the Earth’s Heartbeat
In the karst wonderland of the Getu River, the meeting of light and caves creates a miracle. When sunlight pierces through the hundred-meter-high dome of Swallow Cave, a beam of “divine light” descends as promised, while tens of thousands of rock swallows dance in the golden glow. Drifting along the river, you will encounter the best-preserved ancient river channel on Earth—the Blind Valley, where 300-meter-deep cliffs encircle the silence of primordial times.
This is also a land of echoes. Whisper in Echo Valley, and the mountains will respond clearly, like an intimate conversation between heaven and earth. A French geomorphologist once called this place “one of the most beautiful in the world.” Perhaps what he heard was the timeless, serene yet majestic heartbeat of this land.

🛖Winter in Yunfeng Benzai | Pushing Open 600 Years of Tunpu Time
Stepping into #Yunfeng#Benzai in winter, rows of high-walled courtyards stand quietly like a painting. Winding bluestone lanes reveal the enduring elegance of Jiangnan in every wooden carving and stone drain. In the Mei Family Compound and Jin Family Courtyard, the overhanging floral gate towers silently tell of six centuries of Tunpu life.
Wandering through, it feels like pushing open a door to the Ming Dynasty. Homes are connected by hidden passages, courtyards face each other adorned with carvings. As warm sunlight slants into the skywells, time itself seems to slow down—this is not just a scenic spot, but a serene old dream from which one never wishes to wake.

A Dialogue with the Inheritor of Intangible Cultural Heritage: Behind the Nuo Opera Mask, Who Is He?
Dejiang Nuo Opera is an ancient folk art that integrates religion, history, literature, fine arts, dance, and drama. Mysterious, rugged, and full of vitality, its core purpose is to worship deities and ancestors, ward off evil spirits, and pray for blessings.
In 2006, Dejiang Nuo Opera was included in #China’s first representative list of intangible cultural heritage. Zhang Yuefu became a representative inheritor of the second batch of national intangible cultural heritage projects—Nuo Opera.
Born into a family of Nuo Opera performers, Zhang Yuefu represents three generations of Nuo Opera artists. In addition to learning his family’s Nuo Opera techniques, he also studied under renowned local masters. Diligent and dedicated from a young age, he often performed alongside his grandfather and father. At the age of 25, he established his own altar and became a lead ritual master.
The transmission of Nuo Opera relies primarily on oral instruction and demonstration. Experienced artists often possess remarkable performing skills and astonishing memory—some can recite scripts tens of thousands of words long, even if they are illiterate. Though Zhang Yuefu’s formal education was limited, he could recite entire Nuo Opera scripts word for word. Such mastery stems not from innate talent but from years of persistent practice, where “dripping water wears through stone.”
Destined to live a life intertwined with Nuo Opera, Zhang Yuefu regarded this as both a historical calling and his honorable mission.

International Guests Conduct Field Study on #Guizhou’s Mountain Tourism and Discuss High Quality Integration of Culture and Tourism📰📩
From November 12 to 13, representatives from international organizations, government departments, tourism institutions, diplomatic missions in #China, tourism-related enterprises, mountain destination management agencies, and academic experts from #Russia, #Italy, #Lebanon, #Colombia, #Malaysia, #Thailand, #SouthKorea, #Nepal, #SriLanka and other countries and regions conducted an in-depth field study of #Guizhou’s characteristic mountain culture, tourism and sports projects in #Guiyang, #Zhenfeng, #Anshun and other locations. Through on-site inspections and in-depth exchanges, the delegation gained a comprehensive understanding of Guizhou’s emerging mountain tourism formats and development achievements, and promoted practical cooperation.
The delegation successively visited key projects including Baojiatun Scenic Area in #Anshun, Huajiang Grand Canyon Bridge Tourism Area, Doupotang Scenic Area in #Huangguoshu, and Qingyun Market in #Guiyang. They systematically examined local practices in mountain tourism resource development, business format innovation, and cultural heritage preservation.
At Baojiatun Scenic Area in Anshun, the delegation experienced an immersive presentation of a six-hundred-year history of Ming Dynasty military settlements and the harmonious coexistence of landscapes and traditional dwellings. Stone houses built along the mountains, cultural heritages such as Fengyang-style Han costumes and Anshun local opera were well preserved. The water mill, known as the miniature Dujiangyan, has withstood six centuries of wind and rain and remains in operation to this day. These elements jointly demonstrated the deep integration of natural endowments and cultural heritage, providing a vivid example for the sustainable development of mountain tourism.
The monumental scale of the Huajiang Grand Canyon Bridge impressed the delegation. As a world-class engineering achievement, the bridge extends 2,890 meters in total length, spans 1,420 meters at its main span, and features a bridge deck width of 33.6 meters, standing majestically among steep mountains and dramatic landscapes.
In the future, the bridge will adopt an integrated bridge tourism development model and be developed into a comprehensive destination combining sightseeing, outdoor sports, and transportation tourism services. With its dual value of engineering excellence and landscape beauty, it will further enhance the appeal of Guizhou’s mountain tourism.
At the Huangguoshu Scenic Area, the delegation experienced the innovative night tour program of Doupotang. Centered on the 1986 television series Journey to the West, the original live fantasy performance Back to Journey to the West creatively integrates classic scenes with the spiritual mountains, beautiful waters, and local folk customs of Huangguoshu. This project enables visitors to personally experience the pilgrimage journey and, through a new model of cultural interpretation, demonstrates the vitality and innovation of Guizhou’s mountain tourism.
Qingyun Market in Guiyang allowed the delegation to witness the organic integration of mountain tourism with urban life. Traditional snacks carry the memory of local neighborhoods, ethnic style cultural and creative products lead consumer trends, and diversified business formats attract various types of visitors. The market has become a representative example of the integrated development model of urban scenery, providing a successful reference for how mountain tourism can be deeply embedded into the urban fabric.
During the research process, international industry representatives and experts spoke highly of Guizhou’s mountain tourism. Dharma Raj Panthi, former President of the Trekking Agencies’ Association of Nepal, Gandaki, summarized Guizhou’s core strengths with the keywords picturesque natural landscapes, profound cultural heritage, and mature development and operation. He emphasized that the deep integration and organic coexistence of these three elements have built Guizhou’s unique competitiveness as a mountain tourism destination and provided valuable practical experience for the global development of mountain tourism.
Wei Jian, General Manager of Public Affairs of Mafengwo, stated that Guizhou possesses exceptional resource advantages, well-known core IP products, and diverse innovative tourism experiences. He pointed out that future efforts should focus on the personalized needs of different source markets and achieve better alignment between supply and demand through refined promotion and flexible services. He further noted that early deployment in the wave of artificial intelligence technology development will help Guizhou achieve greater breakthroughs on the path to high-quality integration of culture and tourism.
This field study not only provided valuable international perspectives and professional recommendations for the development of Guizhou’s mountain tourism, but also highlighted Guizhou’s unique competitiveness and broad development prospects in the mountain tourism sector. In the future, Guizhou will continue to deepen innovation in cultural and tourism integration, focus on upgrading market demand, leverage technological empowerment, and promote the mountain tourism industry toward higher quality and more distinctive development.

A Two-Million-Year Earth Imprint: Exploring the Glacial Potholes of Guanling, #Guizhou🌿🌊
Throughout Earth’s long geological history, glaciers have been among its most powerful sculptors. Carrying rocks and sediments as they moved slowly through mountains and valleys, they carved circular or oval depressions into the bedrock over immense spans of time. These formations, known as glacial potholes, are natural wonders created by the swirling and erosive forces of ancient glacial meltwater.
In the mountainous southwest of #Guizhou Province, the #Beipan River, a tributary of the #Wujiang River, winds through deep gorges flanked by towering limestone cliffs. Hidden within this seemingly ordinary karst landscape lies a geological marvel that transcends epochs: the Guanling Glacial Pothole Site.
Geologists believe that roughly two million years ago, this area experienced strong glacial and fluvial erosion. As the climate shifted dramatically, meltwater and sediments worked together over millennia to sculpt this extraordinary landscape. Today, the Guanling glacial potholes offer invaluable insights into paleoclimatic and geomorphological changes in #Asia’s low-latitude regions.
The Huajiang Gorge serves as the main route to the site. As you hike through, the mountain winds brush past your ears, and beneath your feet lie the smooth rock surfaces still bearing the marks of ancient water eddies. For mountain trekkers and geology enthusiasts alike, this route combines the beauty of nature with the thrill of discovery—a journey where you can admire cascading waterfalls and karst peaks while tracing the tangible imprints of glaciers from two million years ago.
