The PNW Region of the Forest Service will be waiving recreation fees at most day-use sites on lands managed by the agency on September 23, 2023, in honor of National Public Lands Day. Waiving fees creates an opportunity for everyone to get outside & enjoy these special places.
A baby octopus hides in the seaweed at Yaquina Head! 🐙
He may be small, but he's got a lot of heart. We mean that literally. He has three hearts.
Please remember Yaquina Head is a protected and fragile natural area! Tread lightly and take only pictures. ❤
Leave No Trace while you enjoy the frosted beauty of the park. #RecreateResponsibly and follow these tips:

Smoke, brush fires, & road closures have made areas difficult to reach, particularly in @PierceCo . There is extensive tree related damage at our Bonney Lake substation. With unsafe conditions & our COVID-19 response protocols in place, some outages may take longer to restore.
This means US 2 is fully open. We have 5 full closures:
US 97 Brewster to Omak
SR 821 Ellensburg to Selah
SR 173 Bridgeport
SR 410 Sumner to Bonney Lake
SR 410 Enumclaw
Follow @WSDOT_East for 97/821/173, @wsdot_tacoma for Sumner, @wsdot_traffic for Enumclaw.
We are grateful that people want to help. For the safety of our shelter residents and workers, the Red Cross is unable to accept material donations of any kind right now. Thank you for understanding.
Updated: Multiple brush fires on SR 512, in both directions, at milepost 0 near Interstate 5. Beginning at 12:42 pm on September 8, 2020 until further notice. All ramps to and from SR 512 at I-5 are closed. Motorists may also encounter lane closures on SR 512 in this area.
Trees are being found along Skate Creek Rd hacked at with a hatchet. This damage kills the tree, which can make it a hazard to visitors and it may have to be eventually removed. Please remember to #RecreateResponsibly and do your part to keep our forests safe and healthy.
With hot, dry conditions in the forecast & an increase in visitors traveling for #LaborDay#weekend please know where #campfires are allowed & never leave them unattended. Don't be that spark that could lead to a tragedy! #OnlyYou
Pets are welcome at @olympicforest under control or on a leash. In developed rec areas: trailheads, campgrounds & busy trails pets must be on a leash. Saddle, pack or draft animals are allowed in authorized areas. Pack out all poop bags! Alert: Pets are restricted at @OlympicNP
If your Plan A trailhead is full, have a Plan B ready. Help save a life! Roads lined with cars on both sides make it so emergency vehicles can’t get through when accidents strike. We are ticketing & towing vehicles that would block access for emergency crews #RecreateResponsibly
⚡️ Firefighters often close an area when a lightning fire is in the vicinity. Burning trees quickly become a hazard. This tree was struck in 2019 at @GPNF & temporarily closed a trail system. 🔥 If you find a fire, report it to Columbia Dispatch (360) 891-5140 or dial 911.📞
