My family’s home purchase collapsed & what we learned about @hcraontario should concern every new home buyer!

Since 2021, HCRA has:
• Approved 99% of builders even with failing credit
• Allowed 1,500+ complaints to sit unresolved for over a year
• Renewed licenses despite prior misconduct
• Let the complaint backlog explode
• Failed to take proactive enforcement action

This isn’t a system protecting consumers it’s one protecting builders. Leadership matters. Oversight matters. Independence matters.

Right now, Ontario new homebuyers have none of the above. Why is this acceptable in the middle of a housing crisis?

The only way to win some games is not to play.

With this much risk involved, a home buyer has to ask themselves very serious questions.

Resale homes never have HST. You can have them inspected. No Tarion. Think on it.

This is going from very bad to worse with Tarion.

Justice Cunningham said to get rid of the Tarion monopoly - and the .@OntarioPCParty agreed with that before they were elected in 2018. Then they broke their promise.

Yikes!! When regulators aren’t independent from the industry they oversee, it leads to regulatory capture. The watchdog serves the industry, not the public.

The @OntarioAuditor 2025 HCRA review already confirmed #HCRA’s weak oversight, little if any proactive enforcement and risks to consumers. This adds even more of the same optics surrounding HCRA right now. #BuyerBeware #HousingCrisis #onpoli @stcrawford2
