I’d jump into traffic for Ayla’s Baklava. Capel St is so congested I regularly do! Today I almost got hit by a backing-in car, a baby stroller, and an electric scooter. Well worth it. Coffee and this baklava is deadly!
Delightful sweets from Ayla Turkish grocers on Capel st. Wish i had caught the name of the colourful bits on the plate. Can only describe them like adult Haribo: Floral, nutty and with 10 times the nuance and complexity of a standard jelly sweet.
Since this is social media, I’ll pretend this sow farrowed these sixteen in this hut, and won’t mention the group hut we had to relocate her and her litter from.
Everything functions perfectly perfect on this farm all the time. Period.
@foodborn Yeah. Grams is absolutely more precise. Far more appropriate for baking this day in age! But alas, I can’t kick my cookie and pumpkin pie habit. I’ll convert the recipes myself one day
The amount of assumed knowledge in recipes is boggling.
@foodborn That all said: most recipes online are not tested. Could be someone’s made up BS for a publishing deadline. This is one reason I love recipes by America’s @TestKitchen.
@foodborn I’m by no means a seasoned baker, but it sounds like this might be the issue. The extra weight might explain the collaps and extra time. A packed cup and fluffed cup of flour can make a headache of difference in a cake.
