In our @UCLpress book ‘What Photographs Do’ @DiviaPatel1 describes how ‘within the @V_and_A Asian Department sits an archive of some 60,000 photographs, mostly nineteenth century images of South Asian architecture and landscape, and a smaller number of the people of the region’🧵
We pay tribute to Mr. Karni Jasol upon his untimely death. In our time with him, we found him to be an absolute treasure trove of knowledge. A lot of the changes at @FortMehrangarh are his contributions. We deeply mourn his death. RIP.

With heart wrenching pain, I write this tribute for one of India’s greatest & youngest museum directors, #KarniSinghJasol 💔Karni dazzled the world with his brilliant leadership as he led the @FortMehrangarh#museum#Jodhpur to newer heights.

I too am the daughter of immigrants from East Africa. That doesn’t give me a free pass to tell black footballers what to do when they experience racism. Taking the knee is a fitting and appropriate action.
A ridiculous attack on the British Home Secretary, who is herself the daughter of immigrants from east Africa. The suggestion that @pritipatel "stoked the fires" of racism ahead of Euro 2020 is both appalling and fundamentally false.
Are you a scholar of Asian or African textiles & dress? The @V_and_A has just launched its Karun Thakar Fund to support new research in materials-based, object-led learning. @DrCChecinska @avfotheringham #soanebritain@DiviaPatel1 Apply here... https://t.co/nuOBeuUtn0

Thank you @OfficialJassa. It's heartening to hear that museum exhibitions can leave a lasting impression on a personal, intellectual and emotional level.
...to connect my very white-presenting self with the culture that felt so intimate to me in private, yet so distant in public. In 2015 I attended the Fabric of India exhibition with my mum at the @V_and_A. As we discovered the deeper histories behind the warps/wefts we loved...
