@kamikazecash I have a teen investor account at Schwab for my kids and contribute each quarter (just VOO). I try to get them excited and show them how it's growing but they seem completely uninterested.
We need a community for parents to share tips to get their kids interested in this.
@kamikazecash@rossiadam@grok The cost of switching to an S-Corp (including tax preparation) is greater than the benefit of funneling the $2500 to the account (unless you have 10+ kids under the age of 18 on payroll then it might be worth it).
I just got this notification from BofA. Would you describe this update as "exciting?" On a scale of 1 to 5, how "excited" would you be about this update?
Fidelity uses "anticipatory posting" or credit-based posting. They know exactly how many shares their clients own on the record date, and they know the exact dollar amount due. They often "credit" your account early in the morning on the payment date, essentially fronting you the cash before the final settlement with the DTCC is finalized later that afternoon.
Schwab (and most others) typically wait for the End-of-Day Settlement. The DTCCโs final daily cash movement occurs around 4:15 PM ET. Schwab often waits until they have received the actual funds and verified the batch before updating client ledgers. This is a more conservative "settled funds" approach that avoids the risk of having to claw back a credit if thereโs a technical glitch in the DTCC's mid-day batches.
@dividendology It's because there are companies like Tesla, Amazon, Salesforce, etc. that all don't pay a dividend and increase outstanding shares over time.
