Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Republic of Somaliland, HE. @min_abdirahman, is actively representing our nation at the Latin America Chairman’s Conference in Buenos Aires, Argentina! 🇦🇷
His participation bolsters Somaliland’s global outreach and commitment to strategic partnerships.
Somaliland became an independent state in 1960
It's high time that the world recognizes #Somaliland as a valuable member of the int'l community
No matter what Mogadishu has to say about it
I was honored to take part in the Latin America Chairman’s Conference in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
The conference brought together senior officials, parliamentarians, diplomats, and international partners to discuss cooperation, shared values, democratic values, inter-regional dialogue, and the strengthening of partnerships across Latin America and beyond.
This visit reflected Somaliland’s growing diplomatic engagement, and I look forward to strengthening the relationships and expanding the outreach established over the course of the visit, in line with our commitment to constructive international partnerships based on mutual respect, peace, stability, prosperity, and democratic values.
BREAKING: Seattle Port Commissioner Hamdi Mohamed, who was born in Somalia, just partnered with the Port of Mogadishu chief to establish a "Sister Ports Partnership"
Happy 250th Independence Day, America! 🇺🇸
From the Republic of Somaliland, we extend our warmest congratulations to the people of the United States as you celebrate 250 years of freedom, resilience, and democracy.
The government of Republic of Somaliland, extends its sincere congratulations to the Government and people of the United States on the 250th anniversary of their independence.
Support the President who sacrificed himself for his country and do not be a vessel for his opponents.
Re-cap on Abdirahman cirro current record:
Less than two years ago today, he was sworn in, inheriting a fractured nation with tribal militias, an invading force on its borders, and immense challenges ahead.
He isolated Ban Qiyaame milita to lascanood, secured Somaliland’s re-recognition despite hostile neighbours and Turkish diplomacy working in Somalia’s favour, and carried out military integration by bringing tribal militias into the national armed forces.
Now, he has taken a people who were once ridiculed over “ictiraaf” (recognition) to a point where the debate is no longer if recognition will come, but where embassies should be based.
He moves on to tackling the remaining barriers facing his nation: economic restrictions, aviation limitations, international investment, trade access, diplomatic expansion, and full international recognition.
St. Louis Park, Minnesota Mayor Nadia Mohamed, who was born in Somalia, just arrived in Somalia to a massive royal welcome.
She said “America is losing its Americaness” because Somalis are afraid after fraud and ICE crackdowns
So why doesn’t she just stay in Somalia??
IT’S OFFICIAL
“The Council of Ministers of the Republic of Somaliland has approved the Joint Declaration issued by the Republic of Somaliland and State of Israel.
In accordance with the Constitution, the agreements will now be submitted to the country's legislative bodies for consideration.”
💚🤍❤️
Thank you to @Baroness_Nichol a strong and loyal friend of #Somaliland and tireless advocate for our nation's recognition. A former UK international Trade Envoy and a global humanitarian, it was great to see her in London to promote Somaliland energy and resources @SLMoEM
Siad Barre massacred 200,000 Somalilanders in cold blood.
His genocidal regime tried to wipe us out but Somaliland endured, restored our sovereignty, and thrived.
We survived his tyranny, reclaimed our independence in 1991, and built a peaceful democracy.
Somaliland deserves full re-recognition now. Justice demands it.
PRESS RELEASE
2nd July, 2026
Government of the Republic of Somaliland Reaffirms Its Sovereign Authority and Legal Position Regarding Dr. Markus Hoehne
Hargeisa, Republic of Somaliland
The Government of the Republic of Somaliland takes note of the recent conclusion of legal proceedings in the United Kingdom. The Government was not a party to those proceedings and therefore will not comment on the terms of any private settlement reached between the individuals concerned.
The Government nevertheless reaffirms its sovereign authority over all matters relating to its domestic legal, immigration, and border policies. Such decisions are made exclusively in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Somaliland and remain solely within the jurisdiction of its competent national institutions.
Dr. Markus Hoehne was deported from the Republic of Somaliland following documented concerns relating to the alleged abuse and exploitation of young girls. The Government determined that the circumstances warranted his immediate removal as an administrative measure to protect public order, public safety, and vulnerable members of society. That decision remains fully in force and has neither been rescinded nor withdrawn.
Should Dr. Markus Hoehne seek to re-enter the Republic of Somaliland at any time, he will be subject to the full application of Somaliland law. The Government will enforce all existing legal and administrative decisions and will take any lawful measures available under Somaliland law, including detention where legally justified and the initiation of any appropriate legal proceedings arising from the matters that led to his deportation.
The Government further notes that, since 2023, Dr. Hoehne has maintained a significant public presence on various social media platforms, where he has published commentary concerning Somaliland, its government, and its citizens, including allegations that the Government categorically rejects as false, misleading, and defamatory. The Government also observes that this period of public commentary has coincided with longstanding public discussions and scrutiny concerning aspects of Dr. Hoehne’s academic work, research methodology, and professional conduct, matters that have attracted criticism and debate over a number of years.
The Republic of Somaliland remains steadfast in its commitment to protecting vulnerable members of society, upholding the rule of law, defending its sovereignty, and safeguarding the dignity and reputation of its people and institutions against false and defamatory allegations. The Government will continue to act firmly and in accordance with the law to protect the rights, security, and interests of the Republic of Somaliland and its citizens.

To my Somaliland people:
The question isn't where our first embassy is. The question is where our second one will be.
History will not wait for us.
Let's move the world. Our people are counting on us.
