PM Modi’s appeal to Indians

PM Modi in his speech in Hyderabad called for a collective participation to help India face global economic disruptions, supply chain challenges, and rising prices caused by international conflicts.

1. PM Modi has urged citizens to reduce petrol and diesel consumption by

* Using metros and public transport wherever available
* Opting for car-pooling when private vehicles are necessary
* Preferring railway transport for movement of goods
* Increasing the use of electric vehicles wherever possible

2. PM Modi has called for revival of Covid-era efficiency measures in national interest, including

* Work-from-home arrangements
* Online conferences
* Virtual meetings

3. PM Modi has also appealed to citizens to help conserve foreign exchange reserves by

* Avoiding unnecessary foreign travel, overseas vacations and foreign weddings
* Choosing domestic tourism and celebrations within India
* Requested people to avoid non-essential gold purchases for one year in order to reduce pressure on foreign exchange outflows.
* Encouraged citizens to prioritise Made-in-India and locally manufactured products, including daily-use items such as shoes, bags, and accessories.
* Asked families to reduce edible oil consumption, stressing that it would benefit both national economic health and personal health.

4. PM Modi has urged farmers to

* Reduce chemical fertiliser usage by 50 percent
* Move towards natural farming practices
* Help protect soil health and reduce import dependence
* Encouraged wider adoption of solar-powered irrigation pumps instead of diesel pumps in agriculture.

Sometime after 2021 elections, I don’t recall what the occasion was, but there was a media meeting where Amit Shah was present.

I got up and asked him about Bengal and the plight of Hindus. This was the first time I was speaking to him. I had never met him before.

Before I could complete my question, he said, “I know what you went through in Bengal. Sab hoga. Main janta hu”.

A similar meeting happened a couple of years later. I asked and got a similar answer.

This time, I sat down and hid my face because I couldn’t control my tears.

@smitaprakash was there right next to me. No words were needed and she held my hand.

Today, Amit Shah delivered. He said no more. No more. “Main janta hu. Sab hoga”. That’s all. And he delivered today.

This is the very tweet that, back in 2021, brought me rape threats, just because I shared a candid view. It spiraled so widely that it reached my college. I was still a student then, and things didn’t stop at online abuse. Boys from the college union showed up at my house to intimidate me.

That was the “freedom of speech” I experienced back then.

But this morning feels different.
I’ve been crying since yesterday, and for the first time after an election, these aren’t tears of fear or helplessness… they are tears of happiness.
