He said, "... The Indian government conducts an examination here for those MBBS degree holders, called the FMGE, Foreign Medical Graduates Examination. Around 38,000 students appeared for the examination this time. And these are children from poor and ordinary families... Today, I can see that these children are putting their lives on the line. They have some very genuine demands. Their demands are that the answer key should be shown, the answer sheet should be shown, and there should be transparency..."

For several days, doctors and FMGE aspirants have been protesting at Maharaja Ranjit Singh Park in Gautam Nagar, Delhi, over alleged irregularities in the FMGE exam held in June 2026.

The protesters allege that the examination pattern was changed without prior intimation and that video-based questions were introduced unexpectedly. Following protests at the Jantar Mantar protest site, the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) acknowledged irregularities and assured aspirants that such issues would not be repeated in future examinations.
However, aspirants have begun fresh protests as the key demand for compensation for the aspirants who appeared in the FMGE remains unmet.

Day 4 of Dr. Jaswant’s hunger strike for justice for FMGs who appeared in the FMGE June 2026 examination.

FMGE June 2026 saw the sudden introduction of video-based questions without prior notice, marking an unexpected change in the exam pattern. Technical issues during the examination also affected thousands of FMG doctors.
It is deeply disheartening that doctors in India have to resort to a hunger strike just to seek justice.
We hope @NBEMS_Official finally opens its eyes, listens to the students, and addresses their genuine concerns.

FMGs are not asking for an unfair advantage—they are demanding fairness.

The sudden rise in difficulty, excessive video-based questions without adequate prior notice, time-consuming questions and exam-centre failures deserve an independent review.

If genuine irregularities affected candidates, compensation marks must be considered. Thousands of medical careers cannot be dismissed without transparency and accountability.
