My simple 6-step Sunday evening routine (that you can steal to guarantee a strong start to your week)
1. Steam room + ice bath rotation
I go 25 minutes in the steam room & straight into 8 minutes in the ice bath. Every week I try to go just 1 second more in the cold plunge than the week before, working up to 10 minutes this year.
2. Meal prep for Monday-Wednesday (minimum)
I like to have everything taken care of here for at least the first 3 days of the week. If I know it's a week I need to be strapped in Monday-Friday, I'll prep the whole week.
3. Organize my project & task list for the week
I make 4 lists:
• Maker tasks
• Manager tasks
• Personal tasks
• Open loops that I can't take action on at the moment but need to close eventually
Everything else goes on a later list to get to in the future.
4. Brain dump journal anything on my mind
With the above completed, I'll get any lingering thoughts out via handwritten journaling. Sometimes this is just 5 minutes, other times it's an hour if there is tons on my mind.
5. Tidy up my apartment
This is how I know I've finally become an adult. Spending (and enjoying) my last 20 minutes of the week cleaning my apartment is something I never thought I'd do, yet here we are.
6. Stretch and fall asleep before 9 PM
Finally, I'll put my phone on airplane mode, grab my foam roller, and get some mobility work in before falling asleep nice and early.
