@jmitton87 Whenever I hear about taking time for reflection now, I think if the part of our 2nd chapter in Fullan when he talked about great ideas coming to us when we slow down.
#upei21c19@DrErinKeith#collegeworks@mynbcc As we near the end of our M.Ed journey, I'm grateful for the opportunity to have pursued this education, the uplifting and inspiring people I've pursued it with, and the fact that I'm lucky enough to do work I love everyday.
@huang_tianli@DrErinKeith Wow. I look at your graphic and I'm happily surprised that I'm pretty prepared. Maybe I'm not as much of a dinosaur as I feared!
@jdingwell@YouTube I'll probably never get rid of the pencil and paper and I'll always choose face to face but.... that stuff about the cloud and being able to get data on study habits was pretty friggin cool. And the hologram stuff? Woah!!
#upei21c19 @DrErinKeith I'm thinking a lot about how I can use technology to help students learn how to learn. If used right tech can free me up to spend more 1 on 1 time with my students AND it can help personalize the student's learning. https://t.co/T3eX0sQCJT
@winstonwildcat This really highlights the need for investment in ed-tech to be a considered decision not a jump on the bandwagon approach. If we know why we're using it, the specific benefit it will provide, and most importantly how to use it, the probability of success will be higher.
#upei21c19@DrErinKeith Myth #2: Technology will replace teachers. My experience with online and blended courses tells me this is not true. Our role may change but good pedagogy is still needed for sound learning to take place.
@MmeKendrick I've been all over the map on this one. My preference would be to teach proper behaviour. It really depends on the students in the room. When some refuse to use it reasonably I long for the days we didn't have to deal with it.
#upei21c19 Edtech myth #1 - If it's cool, teachers and students will love it and use it. Myth busted: Cool is all well and good but you have to know how to use it. Think of all the Smart Boards in classrooms that aren't used as intended. Spend as much on good PD as on tech!
