Backrooms had me locked in from the first scene to the last. Renata Reinsve steals the show for me. Kane Parsons has built a monument of bootlegged nightmares that might make Cronenberg and Lynch (🫡) proud.
We are deeply saddened by the passing of Marjane Satrapi, the acclaimed Franco-Iranian artist, filmmaker, and author of the internationally celebrated graphic novel Persepolis who died at the age of 56.
Marjane Satrapi was a fearless voice for feminism, human rights, and freedom. Through her work and public engagement, she consistently advocated for women’s rights, standing in solidarity with the people of Iran and amplifying the message of the Woman, Life, Freedom movement on the global stage.
According to a statement from her family, Marjane Satrapi “died of sadness” a little more than a year after the passing of her husband, Mattias Ripa, a producer, actor, and screenwriter, who died on April 8, 2025.
Marjane Satrapi leaves behind a powerful cultural, artistic, and moral legacy. Her courage will continue to resonate far beyond her lifetime.

Kane being interviewed asked about gen AI during an interview for the film basically confirmed for me that the AI readings ppl have had for the film are 100% intentional
Adam Shankman says no AI was used in the making of ‘STOP! THAT! TRAIN!’:
“Every shot in ‘Stop! That! Train!’ was made by human hands! There are a sum total of ZERO shots conceived by AI in the movie. We employed hundreds of VFX artists who all killed themselves getting this out for release and not one job was taken out of human hands. The movie is a fully human made piece of joy and laughter. Take it in and enjoy it yall! We need the laughter!”
Are we really surprised that the guy who helped pioneer digital de-aging actors to play their younger roles as well instead of hiring other actors to do it, is now taking a pro-AI stance instead of hiring people to do the work?
I love many of his movies, but c'mon now.
Martin Scorsese has joined a generative AI startup as a partner and advisor.
He adds that he has used AI during pre-production to help with storyboarding — “with this tool, I can share what I’m visualizing more clearly & efficiently to my creative team — the production designer, art designer and cinematographer.”

"but if Patagonia doesn't protect its trademark then the gun companies and oil companies can infringe on it too."
Okay, so who stands to benefit from this? I'm sure the oil and gun companies aren't at all pleased at the idea of shutting down a queer climate activist.
I support Pattie Gonia. Idk why it's so hard for some of y'all to understand the nuance of that. Like, it's pride month and y'all are jumping to support a multi billion dollar corporation over a drag queen educator and activist? A lot of the straights are being homophobic too.
This is making it VERY clear to me that y'all learned nothing from the BLM movement, pro-Palestine movement, and trans rights movements. Just when I think we're capable of actually causing revolutionary change in this country, y'all lose the plot and simp for an MIC affiliate.
BACKROOMS isn’t “about trauma” lol it’s about memory.
i think it’s weird that one character having a mentally ill mother is taking center stage here when she’s simply… remembering her mother occasionally. doesn’t overpower the film at all.
Great way to start Pride month when a customer's employee and I start talking about movies- particularly Sheep Detectives- and he says "I'm just glad we're getting back to normal movies, none of that gay shit all over anymore."
GET ME BACK TO MY PEOPLE.
