We live in a world where the third Wild Card team in the AL has a losing record and the Red Sox won’t even sniff a playoff spot. Fire literally everybody. I cannot express to you how much I hate this team.
“We had 50 players in the draft this year that were over 25-years-old competing against 17 and 18-year-olds...” - Nick Saban
Why’s that important? Well… here’s Will Anderson Jr. at 17-18 years old (left) versus Will Anderson Jr. at 25 years old (right) 😂
Jason Varitek’s wife, Catherine, on Red Sox GM Craig Breslow.
Per: @CatherinVaritek
“They have the “smartest man in baseball running the show…They’ll be OK without Jason, that’s what the team wanted. It’s what’s best for the team. 🤗”
😭😭😭

First home series since firing the manager, the hitting coach and various other coaches. Red Sox hit .107 with a .492 OPS with runners in scoring position. 7 runs scored. 29 runners left on base.
Alex Cora wasn’t the one who last offseason failed to trade from the Red Sox’s surplus of young outfielders.
The one who blew the pursuit of Alex Bregman in free agency. The one who then pivoted to run prevention.
Craig Breslow did all that, writes @Ken_Rosenthal.
Not only is the season virtually over in April, but most of their losses have been games that were over in the first two innings. It’s not like they’re losing close games and making things interesting. They play non-competitive baseball and don’t hit any home runs. So boring.
The worst part about this Sox start is you can't really see legitimate change coming. At least in terms of firings or selling.
-They can't really fire Breslow because the job was already impossibly unappealing before him. It will be next to impossible to get someone in here of real competence because of that and you would probably see another first time CBO which may be better, but may be worse.
-You could fire Cora but like how is that going to improve the offense and Slug of the team? Maybe Fatse but that feels like it would be more symbolic than anything.
-Even if by some miracle FSG actually decides to sell they wont actually sell. John Henry (or someone) would sell his shares that would for the most part be divided up amongst the rest of the share holders. Maybe someone new comes in but it will be in a marginal role because of that. The Fenway Sports Group will never REALLY sell their best asset, their cash cow that they utilize to grow their now corporate empire. It would again be more a symbolic thing than something that brings about real change.
We are stuck. And that is way worse than anything the sox are doing on the field right now.
