Just arrived at #EntSoc23 π¦
I'll be talking about BioWorks' latest pesticide (EpiShield) on Sunday afternoon. No mention of spores in that talk, but I'd be happy to chat about spotted lanternfly and/or entomopathogens at the meeting. Excited to see all the talks and posters!

We're hiring! Interested in a postdoc in Hawai'i? Love studying invasive pest management? Come work with me at the USDA-ARS in Hilo on the big island! We study tropical tephritid fruit flies and avocado lace bugs in tree fruit and vegetable crops.https://t.co/OVSpfiPfXB
A long time ago I stumbled upon a giant puffball in the woods - bigger than a volleyball. This sparked a lifelong fascination with fungi. In college, I would make daily hikes during May to hunt for morels...(cont.)
In 2011, I started graduate school and entered the world of insect pathology. Today I am happy to introduce you to a new species of entomopathogenic fungi that infects spotted lanternflies...(cont.)
I will not be in Denver for Entomology 2021, but my talk is available on-demand if you would like to see some of my latest work on spotted lanternfly!

Rain or shine, we hunt for eggs on the vine! Fitting field work before Easter weekend.
Thanks to Audrey Bowe (@NY_ISRI) for the photo. #stopSLF#spottedlanternfly
I have observed a good number of mantis oothecae (egg masses) in vineyards that also have spotted lanternfly eggs. Here's hoping that we see more mantids eating SLF in 2021!

"Of the 660 photos and observations submitted to scientists at @penn_state@agsciences, chickens and praying mantises are heading for a photo finish in the race to eat the spotted lanternfly, according to Anne Johnson, a doctoral candidate in entomology." https://t.co/obA65VyG1i
The new special collection on spotted lanternfly features 25 articles published in ESA journals since 2015, with 16 of them new additions since June 2020. #SLF@OUPAcademic All articles free to read at https://t.co/FLDai98MgE
If you live in NY state and want to help fight the spotted lanternfly, check out these online tools. I'm hoping these efforts can help to find elusive populations before they reproduce and spread.
A new online interface allows volunteer members of the public to assist in surveying for #SLF and tracking associated data. We encourage New Yorkers to get trained and start surveying! https://t.co/MyKLOSQ1x3 @NYSDEC@NYstateparks
