It is just the beginning.
A lot can be built on top of it.A yield-bearing stablecoin generating double digit APY without any incentives can be used across so many strategies.
Now imagine sftUSD becoming accepted as collateral across third party markets on Sonic.
A user could mint ftUSD, stake into sftUSD, borrow USSD against that position, and mint more ftUSD again.
That creates an organic loop around productive stablecoin collateral, instead of a farm that only works while incentives are live.
ftUSD on @flyingtulip_ is now around 20% yield for stakers on Sonic.
The yield is not coming from points, emissions, or a short term farming campaign.
ftUSD is backed by stable collateral, and when users stake ftUSD into sftUSD, that collateral is put to work through Flying Tulip’s yield engine.
The more interesting part is ftUSD’s role beyond yield.
ftUSD is meant to be used as a settlement currency inside Flying Tulip's products, not just held for staking.
As more ftUSD is minted and used across the protocol, the share of ftUSD staked into sftUSD can remain tilted toward better yields for stakers.

Flying Tulip May Update
In May, we focused on optimizing, hardening, and scaling ftUSD, margin-based Lend, and the infrastructure needed for Spot, Leverage Trading, and TRS.
ftUSD supply grew from $1.49M to $2.07M, with activity-based APY of 29.36% on Sonic and 8.02% on Ethereum. Margin-based Lend expanded to Ethereum, and total Lend TVL reached $4.90M — all without incentives or points.

Revenue and fees generated by all @flyingtulip_ products flow back into buybacks.
Token supply is 100% unlocked. The team got no upfront token allocation, but instead is rewarded from revenue-driven open-market buybacks, so only if products work AND if users actually use them.
It's smol, but being revenue positive since day 1 definitely helps alleviate a lot of the usual "crypto project sustainability" concerns. Very happy with the first 90 days.
join us this Friday for a no-nonsense conversation on what it takes to scale crypto products
hint: getting a ton of users is important, but being able to handle them is a separate conversation completely
should be a fun chat!
Great to see sonic-3:native @SonicLabs actively taking part in meaningful discussions.
Tbh, only a handful of L1s can truly scale apps and payments.
Speed and low fees matter, and Sonic has shown both. But reliability is still underrated.
For time critical and financial critical apps, infra choice will not come down to speed alone. Most chains now have fast blocks and low gas.
The winners will be the networks that are reliable, consistent, and built for serious EVM execution. Sonic is one of them.
Scaling crypto apps takes more than low fees and good UX; it also needs reliable infrastructure underneath.
