God did not command parents to teach their children only during formal devotions.

He commanded them to bring His Word into the ordinary rhythm of daily life. Around the table. On the road. At bedtime. In the morning. In questions, conversations, corrections, decisions, joys, fears, disappointments, and simple family moments.

“You shall teach them diligently to your sons and shall talk of them when you sit in your house” (Deuteronomy 6:7).

This is not a call to forced religious performance. It is a call to a home where God is not treated as a Sunday subject, but as the Lord of every hour. Children should not grow up thinking the Bible only belongs in church, prayer meetings, or quiet time. They should see that the Word of God speaks to life itself.

The Lord speaks to how we dress, not by making outward appearance the heart of godliness, but by teaching modesty, humility, and the greater beauty of the inner person.

“Your adornment must not be merely external... but let it be the hidden person of the heart” (1 Peter 3:3-4).

The Lord speaks to learning, because knowledge without the fear of God only produces clever rebels.

“The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge” (Proverbs 1:7).

The Lord speaks to eating, drinking, work, rest, weather, money, speech, friendship, suffering, and joy. There is no corner of life where God is silent as Lord.

“Whether, then, you eat or drink or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God” (1 Corinthians 10:31).

Parents must not hand their children a Bible in theory while raising them to think without God in practice. The home is one of the first classrooms of discipleship, and daily life is full of moments where truth can be planted.

“We will tell to the generation to come the praises of the LORD, and His strength and His wondrous works that He has done” (Psalm 78:4).

The goal is not merely children who can repeat verses. The goal is children who learn that God is real, His Word is true, Christ is precious, sin is serious, and all of life must be lived before His face.

So speak of Him diligently. Not only in church. Not only when life is calm. Not only when a Bible lesson is scheduled. Speak of Him in the middle of life, because that is where children must learn that Christ is Lord of all.
