The concept of treating an army-controlled parliament as a fashion runway by installed puppet politicians is fascinating. Her social media seems less about legislation & more about documenting her latest catwalk. 🤡
Life imprisonment for Mahrang Baloch, a woman whose cause was raising voice for missing people.
Forget politics, just think: what kind of country are we becoming where prison sentences, missing persons, media blackouts and denied rights…how normal all of this has become here.
Yesterday, our family met with KP ministers at the Islamabad High Court. We held a detailed discussion on the steps being taken to restore all of Imran Khan’s legal and lawful prison rights.
During the meeting, Ministers provided the following update:
1. There will be no surplus budget, as Imran Khan has consistently directed that all available funds be utilized for the development and uplift of the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
2. The KP Government will not sign any agreement to transfer the Rs. 175 billion requested by the Federal Government unless the following demands are met:
• Khyber Pakhtunkhwa must receive its full share for the merged districts (formerly FATA) for the current fiscal year, amounting to approximately Rs. 300 billion. These funds are essential for the economic development and stability of the merged areas.
No agreement will be signed until all of Imran Khan’s legal and lawful rights are fully restored, including
1. The immediate transfer of Imran Khan to Shifa International Hospital for proper diagnosis, examination, and treatment by qualified specialists.
2. An immediate end to Imran Khan’s eight-month isolation and solitary confinement.
a) Restore weekly meetings with 6 family members, 6 members of his legal team, and 6 friends (political associates)
b) Restore his weekly phone calls with his sons.
c) Restore his access to books, newspapers, and other reading material.
These are the basic legal and human rights that must be respected and restored without further delay.
Dr Yasmin Rashid was with us at the Kot Lakhpat jail trial till 6pm today despite her old age, deteriorating health and the hot weather as yet another jail trial is reaching conclusion.
Her 84 year old husband, Rashed Nabi Malik Sb, was also present as he always is to support his wife.
Courts need to consider her suspension and appeal applications soon and authorities need to consider shifting her to a good hospital.
It’s been more than three years that she has been incarcerated despite her age, health and other factors all being in favour of her being granted bail earlier (and now suspension of sentence on the same grounds).
The child’s Australian citizenship forced the authorities to issue potentially incriminating statements & adhere to due process. Had the child been Pakistani, the family would likely have already been silenced, as seen in many other cases.
