He was trying to go home. 🤦🏻‍♀️I’ve become THAT resident 😩

- Always send a U/A if a urine culture is being sent (with only a couple of exceptions).

- Simple cystitis does not cause systemic symptoms, such as fever. Such symptoms usually imply infection that has spread beyond just the bladder.

A good doctor is skilled at leading the HPI to gather an accurate history.

Reorient, rephrase, clarify. What’s the baseline & when did it change? What helped, what didn’t?

It’s the difference btw diagnosing “bacterial pna” for the 8th time in 1 year and diagnosing COP.

The 9th circle of hell in ID is trying to “rule out” TB in a patient who is presenting with lymphadenopathy and fevers who has a history of partially treated TB with strong TB risk factors who also has a new diagnosis of lymphoma 🫠

Our Ortho teams are exceptional at sending multiple bone and tissue cultures without us having to beg for them.

I lovvvveeee discussion treatment options in depth with patients. I love explaining the pathophys so that they understand what’s going on. I love seeing their lightbulbs come on. I love educating patients and arming them with knowledge.

@TBrnaughtTB So much of consulting is about psychological reassurance. I’m happy to metaphorically hold the consulting teams hand while they do all the right things 🥰 I consider it a form of talk therapy lol
