@FaumanKaren @unicorn_mcsynn @GoodishIntent Tuberculosis bovis I’d gather. Also an avium version. A fellow bird lover and wildlife vet nurse got the bird one. Can cause + PPD but neg on Quantiferon.
@WestMiddlesexFH Not under 30, but negotiating cheaper memberships to Ancestry/etc would be a great incentive to join. The websites are simply too $$ for most 2in 20s. Get 'em hooked young!
@alicesofiechen Lots of walking all over the hosp in surgery. ER to floor to OR, repeat x 50. Can u switch to an office rotation - elective oph? Psych? Outpatient primary care? I used a knee scooter for one ER and was wiped after one scoot from car to hospital.
@rubin_allergy@AAAAI_org This - but with poop. I can’t name anyone willing to stand in front of that for me. And if so only once, then they’d be on a dating app.
@rubin_allergy@AAAAI_org And if u cannot stand even to avoid literally shitting the bed you can’t stand to empty clean the bedpan. Options: many smelly shitty bedpans all over the room. Or someone has to clean them for you.
@rubin_allergy@AAAAI_org Of course I get it, standing while orthostatic and dehydrated is bad news and likely caused head injury. Although the intent and idea is good - IMO it’s more a table exercise brain storm idea vs something actual people can do in their homes with the actual ppl they live with.
@rubin_allergy@AAAAI_org Can anyone name a person for whom they’d clean a series of diarrhea bedpans for 12-24 hours? On a regular basis? Can u name someone who’d do it for you?
As a 4th-year med student working with 3rd-years, I learned this:
If you show frustration when a junior person asks a question, you increase their threshold for their coming to you.
Thereby, you increase the chance they make a decision on their own that they shouldn't.
@blondemedSJW Many pejorative terms for patients are routinely used by ED staff, many ER staff only want to see pts with stab wounds, bullet holes, MI, CVA. The rest are looked down upon as not worthy of ER attention/care. Rise about it and be an example for trainees working with you.
@blondemedSJW Partial list of offensive terms often used in ED: sicklers, frequent flyer, addict, functional overlap, psychosomatic, neurotic, hysterical, fictitious, offensive terms LGBT people, MR/mentally retarded, any term that is pejorative about pts is offensive.
@awesomebrandi Does "bad" to u mean LDL or Trigly? It is now thought that LDL and Trigl is mainly all genes not diet. My advises that asking ppl to change diet to change chol doesn't work. Ppl with hypothy or metabol syn or NASH have high trigly.
@Dr_amoytheemd Sometimes the “right” answer depends on what nursery not just what attending. Ea nursery has its rules for bili mgt, when ABO Ab babies or drug test, diff glu levels for “low enough to Rx”. Ask to see manual/policies. Charge nurse more likely than doc of the day to have this.
@RJS_med Q1: Would u want one put in you by trainee w/o US? Q2: If US is available and not used to "train" a resident, isn't that prioritizing education>patient care and safety? Patients are not a practice dummy.
Is there an easy, low cognitive demand, relaxing MAC OS #videogame? Likes: animals, nature scenes. Dislikes: guns, avatars with skin-tight pants and bouncing massive busts.
@1baldchick @AnonsInTheVoid I don’t subscribe to idea that all natural is better. Cocaine and cyanide are all natural. CBD products are a mix of many diff chemicals. Is that better than 99.99% pure pharma concoction? Heroin and nicotine - natural. Super addictive.
