There is a tide in the affairs of men - which taken at the flood.. leads to fortune. Omitted all the voyage of their life is bound in shallows and misery.
@CapitalValor Just my opinion but I never understood why Korea was an EM - high per capita GDP and very developed. Also 3 of the most advanced tech companies in the world probably shouldn’t be in EM indices.
@Hedgeye What is the numerator? Why deflate NOMINAL margin debt by REAL GDP? Obv that’s going to go up over time. What was it in 1929? 0.1%? 0.01%? Apples:apples need both or neither inflation adjusted.
@ZeeContrarian1 But how do you decide whether it's the rally in "the market" or the rally in oil. Both had big moves higher, but it sounds like you are saying stocks higher tells you all you need to know, but oil screaming higher doesn't...
@ZeeContrarian1 Wonder how he got all that money if he's a contra. I would also point out that whenever folks say: "Oh Warren is too old fashioned, he's lost his edge" like late 1990s and 2007, we tend to get major market ructions. You seem to like your style, doesn't mean others don't work
@BULLReturns bought my US house in 2011 at ~40% off replacement costs. I was amazed at how much of an insurance policy we needed based on the sale price. Combo of terrible RE market and high commodities market - copper, lumber, etc. juxtaposed.
@MarketMike Are you saying something breaking in general stocks or oil? What's interesting to me is that on the two highest readings (2000 and 2021) the (oil) market kept rising for another year after the ROC topped...
@EnergyVoiceNews Are UK companies allowed to financially engineer? Say they created a separate, though wholly-owned Singapore subsidiary "trading house" and SQZ sold to them at breakeven prices. Then newco could market it and ringfence the profits until 10 Downing reforms. Value add USA style!
@McClellanOsc Useful. Oil was a great buy when it was down at ~4% net short (<$ 60). It's not a foolproof indicator though. Look at early 2020: commercials increased their shorts from 25-30% AFTER crude bounced from subzero. Also, was higher than current net short all of 2016-2019.
@biancoresearch@RBWfounder The difference shrinks quite a bit when it is our incompetence that allows us to claim we are not TARGETING innocents. We're not doing the work to figure out where legitimate targets are and where kids are. Regardless of intent, many more civilians dead by our hands.
@DallasAptGP Barrett: It seems like the 2.0 is significantly better (basis step up and rural incentives) and worth waiting until next year if we have some flexibility..?
@SpencerHakimian Don’t agree. The speed of the rally is problematic for many businesses, but for the most part oil was around 100 from 2009-2014 and that was a period of strong equities performance and general business conditions.
@ZaxxonGalaxian@calvinfroedge Been happening for a long time...at lower rate disparities. you are willfully blind if you think raising rates a few more % point isn't going to further the exodus. it was one of the best decisions I made. NY/NJ lost billions in tax base. Maybe NYSE to Miami they will wake up
@SixSigmaCapital Now that IBKR has Bovespa access, I feel like a kid in a candy store screening those. I was even thinking about opening a dedicated broker, but don't need to now.
@SixSigmaCapital The best returns come from "uninvestable" stocks. Maybe you remember how much hate there was for YPF or other Argies in 2022, then Brazil, Colombia in 25. Next Philippines IMO. A lot of alpha to be had from just mindlessly thumbing your nose at the crowd and doing the opposite
@calvinfroedge Do this a few times and you will end up giving Trenton everything you own (and more). Took me a while to figure out, but had years where I paid more in state income tax than I made in total income. I am a Floridian now. Think this through before you make the campaign buttons…
@calvinfroedge I am an individual investor and lived in this area. NJ has “gross income” tax laws, and an 11% too rate. As soon as you make any money, you owe tax, no loss carry forwards allowed and you cannot expense interest. This means if you lose a million then make million, you owe tax
