A guy who likes video games, anime & etc. Like to share games and anime with everyone. Also like to think I'm the sensible takes guy, i think.. maybe I dunno
I’ve been getting some crap from retro purists at my local game store for trading away my original PS3 Mugen Souls and Mugen Souls Z Collector’s Editions, but I honestly feel like this was a massive upgrade for my collection. (Rando at game store like a group of 3 friends)
One of my personal rules is that I don’t like to double-dip on physical games unless a newer release fundamentally fixes a broken or butchered original version. (for instance, I keep all my original Persona titles because they offer unique experiences).
The PS3 Western releases of Mugen Souls/Z were absolute butcher jobs. NIS America heavily censored them; stripping out over 100 CGs, core mini-games, and entire mechanics. They were incomplete versions of the game.
These Switch versions are 100% uncensored, content-complete, and pack all the original DLC right on the cartridge. On top of getting the definitive versions, the Switch CEs are actually worth more on the market right now than the stagnant PS3 boxes.
I traded in old basically patchy-job games for an upgraded feature complete versions.
Anyone else trade "retro" originals for modern physical releases when the original was heavily fractured and not like it's eastern counterpart?
Tales of Collection Complete!
I have finally done what I’ve wanted to do for a long time. I set out to collect every single North American release of the ~Tales Of~ collector's editions, and my mission is now complete. It took a while to hunt them all down at reasonable prices, but it was well worth it
(My absolute favorite is definitely the Tales of Arise CE)
This made me realize to set a strict rule for myself now moving forward. I'm now only collecting CEs for two favorite game franchises. that being Fire Emblem and Tales of (obviously)
I recently sold off all my other Switch and PS5 collector's editions. They were taking up too much space, and I wasn't displaying. Honestly, I feel so much better after letting them go. I had zero attachment to em' and have no sellers remorse. It feels great now.
The only other rule I imposed is i'm not getting rid of my older gen CE's. These I've already had a long time and they were just better back then.
Question for all of you: Do you have a strict rule for collector's editions of games? Do you avoid them entirely, buy them all, or have a specific rule of set?
@Becca_Sizemore Oh i love this one. Probably my fav one on the PS2
I have a sealed one too, for the life of me I can't remember when I acquired it. So now it sits on a shelf menacingly wanting to be cracked open.
@Pirat_Nation i'm so glad i have ported version of og on switch but also just have the og versions. so should some dog shit change happen i won't need to worry
@Spectre799games I'm actually excited for a gundam game with a real budget past $11 , pocket lint, and a lollipop with hair on it.
Something new as well or not done as much. Having such advance tech and having eyes on humans. Only for it to unleash itself upon them.
