Dr Edwin Wanyonyi – CEO, University Fund: No. Students will not be refunded. We are reengineering to make universities more affordable, like ensuring universities generate their own income, which will further reduce costs. #CitizenDayBreak
Rahma Saraka - Student, USIU: How will the government ensure that funds reach the most vulnerable groups, such as marginalized youth and the internally displaced and not just the well-connected? #CitizenDayBreak
Dr Edwin Wanyonyi responds
This morning, I presided over the release of the 2025 university and college placement results at the Ministry’s Jogoo House B offices.
The placement process, undertaken by the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS), marks a significant milestone in shaping the transition from basic education to tertiary and university education for the 2024 KCSE cohort.
This year, we have witnessed the inaugural placement of students to newly established institutions, including new Teacher Training Colleges, campuses of the Kenya Medical Training College, Nyandarua University College, and Kabarnet University College.
I was joined by the Principal Secretary for the State Department for Higher Education, Dr. Beatrice Muganda Inyangala, and the Principal Secretary for the State Department for Basic Education, Amb. Prof. Julius Bitok. The leadership of the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service was also present to mark this important occasion.
