He has been involved in the IT world since 1973 when he trained as a systems analyst and programmer in the Pensions Actuarial group of the Old Mutual Life Insurance Company in Cape Town, South Africa.

He built an American technology empire from scratch - founding Genuity, one of the largest hosting ISPs in the world, then founding UltraDNS, the first cloud-based company to develop and market domain name services that translate numerical internet addresses into memorable names.

News Nation USA UltraDNS was sold to Neustar in 2006 for nearly $62 million.

What made Joffe uniquely dangerous as a political actor: DNS. Domain Name System.

Rodney Joffe regularly briefs the White House, Executive Departments and Agencies, and Congressional offices on the subject of cybersecurity.

Google He held one of the most privileged positions in American internet infrastructure - controlling DNS data means seeing who talks to whom, when, and from where. At internet scale.

Durham confirmed it. Special Counsel Durham alleged that Joffe and his associates had exploited access his company had through a pending cybersecurity contract with the Executive Office of the President to acquire nonpublic government domain name system and other data traffic "for the purpose of gathering derogatory information about Donald Trump."

Joffe tasked a group of computer contractors connected to the Georgia Institute of Technology with finding "anything" in internet data that would link Trump to Russia and make Democratic "VIPs happy."

That is a direct quote from an August 2016 email Joffe sent to the researchers.

That Georgia Tech team is the same Antonakakis team documented throughout our prior tweets - CPT 100, DARPA, Pythia, election network reconnaissance.

And after Trump won?

Joffe emailed someone and said, "I was tentatively offered the top cybersecurity job by the Democrats when it looked like they'd win. I definitely would not take the job under Trump." Source: News Nation

He didn't get the job. But he kept his access.
