The small print is out, and it looks like Starmer’s Defence Investment Plan is built on fantasy maths - leaving a massive funding gap for Burnham to fix.
Liberal Democrat plans for Defence Bonds would deliver the real, secure cash boost our forces need.
The UK's tax system needs reform, but raising revenue through stealth taxes lacks transparency and undermines public trust. That is why the @LibDems oppose the freezing of income tax thresholds, which increases the tax burden without openly acknowledging it. Tax policy should be clear and accountable.
By threatening my family in the West Bank once again, Hamas has only confirmed everything I've said about them.
This is what cowardly terrorists do. When they can't silence the truth with lies, they resort to threatening the families of activists who expose their crimes.
Let me be absolutely clear: you will not intimidate me. You will not silence me. Every threat only strengthens my determination to expose your crimes against the Palestinian people.
Hamas is not a "resistance" movement. It is a terrorist organization that oppresses its own people.
DOWN WITH HAMAS.
It does just show the Tories cannot be trusted with our finances or defence. The @LibDems meanwhile have a serious plan to invest in our military housing to give them the homes they deserve.
This is really shocking stuff. The Thatcherite model of selling the family silver has come back to bite us big time.
£14.5 billion is more than Rachel Reeves has been offering for the entire Defence Investment Plan. Instead it was wasted lining the pockets of the private sector.
Reminder: Hinkley Point C (7% of Britain's electricity needs) is at risk of delay due to Natural England's view that the £700m on fish mitigations isn't enough.

The British people are sick of being let down by an endless merry-go-round of Prime Ministers while nothing really changes.
This time must be different. It can’t just be about changing who’s in Number 10, it has to be about changing our broken politics so we can fix our country.
The qualities that made Starmer an effective lawyer & DPP; intellect, caution & detachment are not the same qualities that inspire a country. Today’s resignation is a reminder that you cannot build a political identity around not being the other lot. Eventually people need a positive vision: what Britain is for, what we do better than anyone else & where we’re going. Voters need not just to hear your argument but to feel that you understand them.
It will be a bit crowded at the Cenotaph in November, with a record line of 10 PMs: Major, Blair, Brown, Cameron, May, Johnson, Truss, Sunak, Starmer and Burnham/AN Other.
Outrageous. The ones who put American lives – and the lives of countless others – at risk were Donald Trump, Pete Hegseth and Benjamin Netanyahu.
Don’t blame the UK for your catastrophic blunder.
The Times editorial is correct. The assisted suicide Bill is a shambles and is very defective. Its key sponsors, ultimately the Government, know this but are pressing on regardless.
Editorial: Assisted dying bill is shoddy and riddled with defects
https://t.co/V8wp1wUK8F
As many MPs who voted for it privately conceded, the Assisted Dying Bill had many flaws.
I entirely agree with this letter & am bemused it’s being reintroduced unamended.
Although not religiously, nor philosophically, opposed to assisted dying I will not support this Bill.
Lauren Edwards should give up before she even attempts to bring back the assisted suicide Bill. Even those who voted for it are not happy with the news she wants to bring it back. There’s still time to step back from the brink!
Quite apart from the malign policy, the recklessness and sidelining of expert organisations and disability groups, reintroducing feels politically insane on what may be the eve of a contentious leadership race. As if Labour MPs needed another reason to hate each other right now!
Top ten responses so far from Labour MPs:
—Antonia Bance: “Head in hands”
—Ian Byrne: “Grim”
—Ashley Dalton: “Very sad…deeply flawed and unsafe”
—Florence Eshalomi: “Where to even start’”
—Allison Gardner: “An insult to parliament that this bill has been brought back”
—Rupa Huq: “Last thing we need”
—Adam Jogee: “Insane stuff”
—Emma Lewell: “Absolutely dismayed… A deeply flawed and dangerous bill”
—David Smith: “Very sad news indeed… I can’t think of a more divisive issue”
—Kirsteen Sullivan: “I cannot believe we are back here again. With no humility about the concerns raised previously”
Proud of our brave marines who boarded a Russian shadow fleet tanker in the Channel.
I hope that any funds raised from the seizure of this cargo will be sent to support Ukraine.
It’s vital the Government works with allies to choke off the oil money funding Russia’s war machine.
