Today would have been my big brother Luke’s 44th birthday. Sadly he passed away last Tuesday from cancer. He was a loving father and husband, successful academic and my best friend and I’ll miss him terribly.
I have spent a lot of the past few days trying to make sense of this. But sometimes things don’t make sense and all we can do is sit with our grief and hold the people we love close. The best advice I received from someone during my brothers illness was never leave anything unsaid. Tell the people what they mean to you.
Happy birthday bro, I love you.
Fonagy review on ADHD diagnosis. While headlines focused on over diagnosis the report talks about the increase in diagnosis relating to school’s failure to support low level neurodivergence pushing families down the diagnostic root. I discussed with Prof Fonagy at @CommonsHealth
I spoke for lifting the 2 child limit in parliament before and after it was government policy. I talked to foodbank charities this week. I also watch TV with my kids & ran a marathon to raise money for cancer. Don’t criticise politicians for being normal people celebrate it.
'Is that a really good use of his time?'
'Raising money for a cancer charity?'
The Green Party's @floschechter brands Andy Burnham going on Gogglebox as 'ridiculous'.
@DrOsitaMba Happy for you to point me to the nation with such an efficient healthcare system it has no need for cancer charities. Having worked on the passage of the rare cancers act I’m keen to do anything we can to get us to the European average
@WordMercenary@OfSymbols Because a symbolic vote on the message we sent to the king in 2024 is less impactful in terms of policy goals than organising with colleagues to change the law.
@JerryTaylor I spent years at a trade union patiently explaining to bosses that allowing people variety and to do things outside their work made them better at their jobs, only to have people who believe themselves to be on the left arguing for presentism
@OfSymbols Two million children is not a small number. But as you’ve resorted to personal attacks I can see there is little point using logic to dissuade you from conclusions you’ve reached by other means!
@ToryWipeout I would have liked Starmer to hit the ground running on social care. But trust me more will be done under this leadership than under the last
Here is the report on the need for social care reform I worked on https://t.co/Qh9TRKeE05
Here I am asking the last health and social care secretary about care funding and workforce https://t.co/I7po38FAKS
And here I am asking the Secretary of State before that https://t.co/gwCbbDEaKz
@Horcrux76 I think personal purity in politics is beguiling just as it is in religion. It means you don’t have to examine the effectiveness of your solutions if your passion and commitment are sufficient.
