@pmcondon2 I was missing the land residual but am reading your reports and learning. I expect that the purchaser pays it all in the end. I just wanted to add my point made above. I wouldn’t go as far as Paul Kershaw but my generation was lucky. As were many others over time.

@bob_fedderly @JasJohalBC I don’t recall Bob. Both a tunnel and a bridge went through preliminary design and costing - sensibly so. If the bid phase for the bridge, as a P3 project, had closed sooner (by weeks or so?) this would be history.

My point is that friction piles for a long span bridge at that site across the Fraser are suitable. Expensive - yes. But that cost was part of the ~$2B fixed fee bridge bid received several years ago.

@bob_fedderly @JasJohalBC All of those are in the same high seismic hazard region as Massey. Deep piles at Pitt River were tested and determined that the loads on them never reached the toes - all weight was supported by the piles in friction. That’s how they work, and continue to work 10+ yrs later.

@Rainmaker1973 Those are eigentones. The sound resonates in the air between the walls when the right note is sung for the width of the stairwell. Cathedrals have eigentones. Try it yourself in a concrete stairwell. Hum through an octave until you find an eigentone. It’s eerie but fun.

@kinsellawarren But insert “Carney will achieve his real objective” before “Carney will book”. He can’t think that he’ll lead LPC to a win. Nor should he expect to win a seat in ‘his’ Alberta riding nor stay to lead in opposition. Or there’s a simpler answer - hubris.

@JasJohalBC And the local posturing by Squamish Council adds credibility to the Province’s over-ride of various important local governance files - like housing and zoning. As does North Van District’s recent adoption of a go-slow housing strategy. Careful what you wish for, councillors.

@globalpope @NorthShoreNews As a utility levy I infer this $590 won’t be eligible for tax deferral. So for some seniors this will hit disproportionately on their annual budgets. They’ll remember every year. Also every time Metro plans major projects. #MetroVancouver
