Prof, To renounce your Rwandan Citizenship, you must submit a formal written application to the Director General of Immigration and Emigration of Rwanda, which requires cabinet approval. The process concludes with the issuance of a certificate of renunciation and the publication of your details in the gazette. Mr Muganga did not follow any of the above processes. What he did was like marrying someone’s daughter before your lawyer without visiting the parents. Those who can reach out to him, inform him that the process he followed of going to URSB to renounce his Rwandan citizenship was fraudulent.

It won't be possible to withdraw over 50m over the counter. This squeeze is not fair for people who employ casual labour and pay daily. Bank of Uganda needs to review this. Why set cheque limit at just 5m? @BOU_Official

We are introducing limits to how much cash can be withdrawn over the counter from the financial institutions we supervise starting 1 January 2027.

Withdrawals from individual accounts will be capped at UGX 50 million per day and at UGX 250 milion per day from corporate accounts.

According to our data, payments have undergone a digital shift and electronic credit transfers are the number 1 payment method. Digital payments continue to grow in volume and value, indicating that consumers trust and prefer their efficiency.

Because some sectors still depend heavily on cash though, financial institutions will be able to seek exceptions for certain transactions or sectors. Here is the full statement.

Thank you for this insight VC, but as far as I know, and basing on the records from Parliament, all the other nominees who had the same issue like yours presented to the committee evidence of renounciation of American citizenship. Just to prove them wrong, did you present the same to the committee ie for Canada and Rwanda? Just a point of privilege, I have been a member of the appointments committee for the last five years and I know how it operates basing on the rules.

The narrative of Hon. Tayebwa wanting to fail you because the committee must fail at least one person is not true because the President has been appointing people to serve in different departments and we have never failed any basing on the above accusations.

We have very many banyarwanda serving government even as ministers and no body has ever victimized any because they’re Banyarwanda.
