The sources were imprisoned for (sometimes alleged, sometimes tried and convicted) terrorist offenses or connections. So the position has to be that "these people would participate in the murder of Israel children, but wouldn't lie about prison conditions." Ok, at least be skeptical, especially given that there is a phalanx of anti-Israel NGOs pushing these stories and that I'm sure provided these sources to Kristof to interview. Did Kristof exhibit any such skepticism in the absence of forensic evidence, confessions by guards, smuggled out video? No, instead he repeated the most ridiculous of the allegations, the prison rape dogs.
